Palestinian Authority to hold first elections in 15 years (msn.com)
Let me get something out of the way first:
    Say What!!!
    :icon_jawdrop:

Ok, I have been mad at the Palestinians over their failure to create a successful state for many years. But now it seems I was a little too hard on them. I'm stunned! They are going to have an election for the first time since 2006! Who would have seen it coming??

Good, a small step but a positive one, perhaps Kushner's work in the Middle East is paying off, seeing the other Arab countries making peace with Israel might pressure them to do the same.

Well, yes, Hamas is an uncertain variable in the election, but so far they are open to an election in Gaza Strip in addition to the West Bank. So, it will be interesting to see what happens.

You know if hamas loses they'll start screaming is "we won in a landslide, its a rigged election", followed by "Fatah and the Israelis stole the election" followed by "fight for Palestine against the evil jews".

In Gaza I doubt the democratic institutions and law enforcement agencies could withstand the Hamas boys moseying on down to their parliment to "stop the steal" the way Americas did and are doing.

That trump playbook sure comes in handy, don't it?

Not unexpected and adds to the successful ME negotiations during the Trump administration. Win-win for everybody.

Yeah trump supporters sure do believe in violently occupying desecrating congress in an effort to prevent the legal constitutional process for the peaceful transfer of power on the basis of pure adulterated bullshit. That's some strong belief, they got there.

15 years.... Time flies. I remember when Bush and Condi insisted on elections in Palestine which put Hamas in power. Israel was not amused.

LOL. Trump supporters rejected democracy as soon as they lost the elections, but Hamas loved it when they won the elections and made them the official leaders of Palestine.

You mean a few hundred out of the 75 million people who voted for Trump took part in an arranged protest which then spilt into a riot where 4 of them were killed?

No, the 75 million Trump supporters accepted the result, a few hundred protested in a demo which got out of hand and became a riot. The idea of democracy is that not only do you accept the result when you win but you then hold further elections and accept the result when you lose.

Oh, so now its about numbers of "those" MAGA people who actually listen and act on the dear leaders words and the 75 million who voter for trump, the majority of whom are not MAGA, they are independents who either bought the bullshit, or went "lesser of two".

You continue to try to diminish the Desecration of the heart of American Democracy. All these conservatives that think its equivalent to the all too familiar and frequent race based riots in urban america, are displaying a real peculiar kind of patriotism.

"get those sons of bitches off the field".

    Hold your horses.
Last time, Gaza's election was brutal and violence when Hamas members shot Fatah member's knees.
If Hamas will win the "democratic election" than prepare yourself to war against Israel.

Why? They won the first elections in 2006, but there was no war with Israel.

If there was a war, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) would wipe them out in a day.

Israelis killed the chief of the Gaza military wing of Hamas which resulted in 8 days of rocket attacks against Israel. This happened 6 years after the elections and had nothing to do with the elections. The elections didn't change anything. Hamas has been consistent with their hostility towards Israel and that is not going to change.

So, why do you think there will be a war if they have another election when you just proved such 'wars' have been taking place in the past?

Rocket attacks on Israeli civilians from Gaza started in 2000, long before the killing of Mohammed Deif in 2014.

A Hamas government in Ramallah would be no different from the Hamas government in Gaza. More rocket attacks, from places closer to the big residential areas in central Israel. A significant change, I'd say. War would become inevitable.

I was asked about what happened in 2012 and 2014.

Like I said, Hamas has been openly hostile all along, and launched many rocket attacks from Gaza (and other places), and terror attacks, so I don't know how the elections would change it for worse, unless you are arguing there would be pre-emptive war started by Israel. I doubt that.
