Any people from Finland or other European countries? Are pathetic sentences normal for all crime? I was reading about the Oulu child sexual exploitation scandal in Finland and was STUNNED by the utterly PATHETIC sentences, ranging from 2-4 years! WTF? Sentences are mentioned in the table on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oulu_child_sexual_exploitation_scandal
Yes, totally normal in this part of Europe. Some of these lenient sentences would be shockingly unbelievable to Americans. It is most common in Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway, France, Germany, the UK (England), in that approximate order. There has been one or two threads about this subject in the past. A brutal rapist could get only 4 years in prison. Here's just one example: Sweden: Sex Slave Found Chained in Basement of Muslim Migrant Hookha Shop A group of migrants from a foreign country kidnapped a woman, held her at gun point, kept her chained in the basement, repeatedly gang-raped her over and over again, going into her various different bodily orifices, and they each only got sentenced to 4 years, had to pay her the equivalent of USD 30,000 , and - to add insult to injury - they were NOT deported. These type of stories are not that uncommon.
This is just my personal hypothesis, but I believe part of the reason the situation has developed the way it has in Sweden (the most extreme case among the European countries) is because feminists took over in politics and they drastically expanded to the definition of what "rape" and "sexual violation" is, which effectively lumped a whole bunch of silly stuff together into the same boat as rape. That is, while they are busy nitpicking into the petty misdoings of men in the bedroom - punishing ordinary men for sexual things they should not really be punished for - at the same time, they are pretty much letting all sorts of terrible brutal despicable rapes slide. Just look at what Julian Assange was actually accused of in Sweden. The silly utter insanity! (one of the girls, he allegedly slipped off his condom without her knowledge before going into her = "rape" he says the condom tore, that's why he took it off. she says she wasn't aware the condom was off until a minute after intercourse had started, but she let the sexual intercourse continue even after she was aware! the other girl he had previously had consensual sexual intercourse with earlier that very night, and he was sleeping in her bed. then he pulled apart her legs and began having sex with her, without her consent. even though she did not say no. = "rape" ) I think when you add all sorts of stupid silly stuff like that into the definition of rape, you change the society's perception of what "rape" is.
I believe they WERE deported. https://gellerreport.com/2017/01/muslim-migrants-open-hookah-shop-keep-sex-slave-basement.html/

I'm in the UK and I think it's sick that next year this murderer will be due for release. https://www.thesun.co.uk/archives/news/512049/honeytrap-killer-brags-about-prison-holiday/ Showing no remorse, no remorse at all. Honestly, I always hoped that he was in prison miserable, just this vision in my head, as in reality, he's treating his murder sentence like a holiday/vacation at the expense of the government I learned today. Makes me sick.
Europe should really consider dusting off the gallows, guillotine, bolt action rifles, or whatever their methods of dispensing permanent justice were.
In the United States of America, it is a felony sexual offense governed by laws that vary from state to state. Typically, it is "a sexual assault that maims, wounds, or disfigures the victim, or involves a victim who is physically or mentally incapacitated." It may also "include a sexual assault that is aided or abetted by another person, occurs during commission of another crime, or involves use of a deadly weapon. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aggravated_sexual_assault The initial police report, on 1 December, was about a gang of seven foreign men who had been grooming a girl. https://www.allure.com/story/what-is-sexual-grooming-abuse In 2018, 1393 cases of rape were reported to the police.[4] According to official statistics, 27.0% of rapes have been committed by foreigners in Finland, who comprise 2.2% of population.[5] In contrast, the rape support helpline Tukinainen reports that 6% of all callers and 11% of 10–20-year-old callers say that the rapist was a foreigner.[6] Finnish rapists are more likely to be known personally by the victim, increasing the threshold to report. Furthermore, there are great asymmetries between nationalities of rapists. Finland is "the place in the EU where the highest proportion of people die every year in gun murders, shooting accidents and suicides involving a firearm." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Finland 27% of 1393 = 376.11
I basically agree with you, the person you were talking to is an aussie though. I don't have a problem with people commenting on other countries' domestic affairs, if those commenting are in the know. Unfortunately, it seems to be an extremely popular past time among many of our american friends to throw dirt at other nations and ignore what most sane people would call facts, reality, reliable sources, and critical thinking. "Look how crap they are, thank God we are so much better" seems to be an essential part of their being. Sadly, you can almost always spot how little they know and how uninformed on whatever issue it may be they are. The real sad part is, most of the time they aren't even interested in broadening their horizons, possibly 'cause it might destroy their narrative. I live in Europe and have been lectured on health care, education, the legal system, police work, the election system and numerous other topics re the country I live in by the most clueless idiots one can possibly imagine. It usually takes one sentence and you know you're talking to an intellectual vacuum. No matter how hard you try, it's impossible to take these people seriously. What I find absolutely loathsome is them using other countries as their idelogical battlefield to push their agenda, Sweden and the Scandinavian countries are wonderful examples.
So people shouldn't comment on a law anywhere in the world no matter HOW bad it is, if their own country has unrest? Surely you cant be serious!
Did you not bother to READ what I wrote? Here, let me help. Plenty of time to comment once you've dealt with your own dirty laundry.
