I've heard a lot about the game, along with Hearts of Iron 3.

Civ 6 can't afford to suck. Civ 5 had the (*)(*)(*)(*)tiest AI I've ever seen, and diplomacy made absolutely no sense.

Personally, I think X-COM is better than any of the newer civ games, and maybe better than all of them.

EU 4 is the best strategy game out there. The depth of the game is fantastic.
Crusader Kings 2 is also as good in my opinion. Same developers. It's quite cool that can play from 769 to 1815 now.
I hope they are working on EU Rome as that was a fantastic game too. Not yet on their Clausewitz engine so not possible to take that game over to CK2.

I have 20 hours now on Civ 6. There are some really nice touches. The eureka moments that boost your research is an excellent addition. The districts are really cool and they are growing on me.
It's a beautiful game to be honest.

The best strategy game out there? I'll have to buy it, in that case. I'm always looking for something hard with a lot of depth. Have you had a chance to play Hearts of Iron 3?

I thought you weren't you liking it?

Well, I'm going to wait until the price goes down a bit. I'm thinking about going through my old D&D favorites and Pillars of Eternity before I get back into civ and other strategy games.

I haven't played Hearts of Iron since the first one I think. I have it on my wish list for some day when it's on discount.

I had been following the progress of Civ 6 for months. I didn't like the childish leader animations and I still don't. Other than that it is pretty good.
Still...Civ 3 or 4 was my all time favourite. Civ 6 has the foundations for something really good... With a few expansions it could be better than Civ 5.

    Edit;
Hearts of Iron 4 looked really good. I might get it with a good price. It's a bit too limited for my taste.
There is also Victoria by the same developers that starts when EU4 ends. Pretty cool game as well though getting a bit old.

I'm getting Civ VI as soon as I get paid tomorrow. I can't wait! I'm also a big fan of all of the Paradox strategy games. I play EUIV, CK2, Victoria 2 and Hearts of Iron 3. I'm a couple DLC's behind for EUIV, and havn't made the switch to HOI IV. Also a huge fan of all the Total War games. I own all of them, lol. Great fun!

I used to love playing Quake 3 team arena.

Just recently I got back into playing video games after not playing for like 10 years and the only games I even care to play are NHL 17, Madden, GTA and Fight Night - but I play those games on my 360.

I do like to play Monopoly, spades, bones and poker online, but those really aren't "pc games"..

I am an old line strategy gamer. Even Had a subscription to SPI back in the day. Think a magazine that comes with a historical simulation of a real world battle or campaign every issue.

Has anyone played civ 6 yet? How does it differ from Civ V what I 've seen on line looks really nice but then so did Civ V till I beat the AI on every level I played with out any restarts. And that's paying with the US. Civ IV is at least a challenge at the higher levels.

My boys has Xboxes. I'm 50 and I enjoyed Black Ops - Zombies (Der Riese). Used to get to level 80 on solo, then got bored.

In my Sinclair Spectrum days, it was Jet Set Willy, Manic Miner and the games by Ultimate Play The Game.

I have an original Xbox. The red ring of death issue kept me away from the 360, and later generations just don't appeal to me due to how they operate (paid multiplayer, massive downloads, spying, etc.). It's a cool old system to fire up once in a while, that OG XBox. Has my favorite version of GTA San Andreas on it, though the custom music player seems to have issues with playing everything I rip on it. Not sure what that's about.

Dude Civ IV was better than Civ V. But then I didn't care for three either.

LOL, I cannot get the women in my family to put air in their tires!!! WOW. I've almost died twice and I try to tell them I'm not always going to be around to help but they refuse to listen to me!

Swweeeet looking rig you have there! I'm working on my next build. Ryzen 5s are so affordable.

I'm wicked old. I used to have skills. I beat Zelda 2 for NES which is considered very hard. Now, I cannot beat games on easy. That doesn't stop me from trying. I have so much fun playing games. Back in the day I had no money and everything was fabulously expensive. Now I have money and STEAM, GOG, Humblebundle... so many ways to buy cheap games for PC. And I have VR headset for my Samsung. Unreal. I am so spoiled.

I don't play online nearly as much as I should. I have Planetside 2 but have barely touched it.

Last PC games I've played without winning yet:
    Dishonored
    Batman Arkham Knight
    Mafia 2
    The Void

    Too much fun.

Also, playing the "Turing Test" on Xbox 1: Can quickly switch from game to youtube walk through. A blast.

I have both (Humble Bundle sale). What was better about 4? Have you tried 6? (I'll wait for sale on that one even if it is great)
Do you think V is better than 4? Just started the latest ME. Got bad reviews at $60 but I got deluxe for PS4 for $18. Seems OK to me so far.

Getting old, can't play the FPS games online anymore. I'll play turn based strategy games but mostly play World of Warcraft.

I play browser based games mostly. Right now I'm a big Dawn2055 player. If you're interested in these kinds of games, start at Citadel and join the Phoenix Coalition, I will hook you up.

Recently moved to Torn. It's an Online text based game called Torn. If anyone is wanting to take a look, I own the Phoenix Coalition Faction, and I will help any new player. I will get you a home, weapons and armor.

I just finished Mass Effect: Andromeda a couple weeks ago. A lot about the game was good although I was less than impressed with the voiceover for the male main character, Scott Ryder. There's always some disconnect between the voices of the characters and what is actually going on in the scene that is being voiced when it comes to these games. That's probably because the voices are recorded in a studio, and unlike a movie shoot, there is no contextual action happening to an actor in a studio as they are saying their lines. But even so, the Scott Ryder voice had more disconnect than normal. The game itself was fairly decent though, even if it lacked that sort of overarching importance of your actions that the first three had, since those dealt with the fate of an entire galaxy and not just a few ships.

I've moved on to The Witcher 3 GOTY edition(with all the DLC). They got a lot about this game done very very well. One of the best RPGs I've ever played in all but combat. The combat/powers system leaves a little to be desired, although I suspect that is partially because you only play one character who only does the same exact things. There are no "classes". They really achieved a human feel to the movement of the CGI characters though. Even the lip movement during talking is the closest I've ever seen to being realistic in a computer game so far.

Based on The Witcher 3, I'm pretty damn excited to see what CD Projekt Red's next game Cyberpunk 2077 will be like. That's supposed to come out towards the end of the year.

Started out with Final Doom in the year 2000. It was also the year of my first computer and online experience via dialup. Now when I play, it's another old first person shooter game called Unreal Tournament GOTY edition, which I play online via a 120 mbps high speed connection. I also like point and click single players like Diablo 2. I got my Amazon character up to level 65. A lot of pointing and clicking and dying. Never made it thru the Nightmare level.

I was a PC gamer from 2000 to 2008. My first game was some NASCAR game (don't remember the actual title). I had just lost my Dreamcast and the PS2 was about to be released.

I was so impressed by the graphics of that NASCAR game and the fact that PC games were less expensive, I'd made up my mind that I wasn't gonna buy any consoles again, but ended up buying a PS3 in 2008.

Ended up selling the PS3 in 2012 and haven't been as interested in video games since.

When Steam locked me out of my account by mistake without providing any way to correct their mistake that actually works I stopped playing PC games. I play World of Warships and WOT from time to time. Steam put gaming into the past for me.

I am one of the biggest MMO players ever.

Been on them for a very long time.

Was out of a game while waiting for the WOW expansion so picked up Final Fantasy 14.

    It was an excellent choice.

But I play all types of games really.

    Farcry 5 is really fun.

If you like Diablo you should try Path of Exile, its the same concept except the customization is literally 1000 times greater plus its free to play.

In fact here is the skill tree and you can take any path you want to be anything you want.

You will spend days just finding the specs you want for your character.

Wanna be an archer then fine but will you focus on bow skills, stealth, add melee to it, possibly magic for some shields?

    The options are endless.

Want to be a witch, then do you want to be fire or ice or summon the dead or cast curses and hexes and use poison?

You want to summon totems to do all the fighting for you?

    You can do that also.

My PC gaming started on the Sinclair Spectrum in the 80's.

Jet Set Willy was the best game and Ultimate Play The Game made (UPTG). If you get the spectrum emulator, you can't get UPTG titles, I think the current owners won't allow them to be emulated.

That was way before my time however I have played most of the old games.

I just ordered a handheld game of Oregon Trail, you may remember that one.

I didn't play adventure games, it was more space invaders and platform games for me.

It was the Spectrum, BBC, Commodore and Dragon computer days for me. When you switched them on, you had a blank screen and a flashing cursor. So you either had to type a program in or load a game from a cassette.

I have two Xboxes but one has the red ring of death and the other won't read discs. When they did work, I only played Zombies on Black Ops.
