This must be what the 2A and gun enthusiasts must be worried about -the government quelling protest.

The escalating street protests recalled recent activism by the Black Lives Matter movement, while also evoking pivotal moments in the turbulent history of racial and economic struggle, from the convulsions of 1968 to the riots that broke out in Los Angeles in response to the April 1992 acquittal of the officers charged in the beating of Rodney King. Ongoing eruptions had yet to reach these levels, as mayors and governors implored their citizens to stay calm, while President Trump urged authorities to “get tougher......
The Trump administration offered active-duty military forces to help quell the unrest, as the president intensified his rhetoric against protesters, launching tweets about the “unlimited power” of the military and the prospect of “many arrests.”

I was impressed by the threat to use the army against the populace.
That’s the reason for guns. To prevent oppression by a tyrannical government.

The Donald himself is the cause of unrest. The killed black man is only a symptom of Donald's strive for white supremacy. :(

He can’t help stirring things up can he?
Threats and the army are not the way to restore peace when people are sick and tired of of terrible things happening to black people.

“Victims were majority white (52%) but disproportionately black (32%) with a fatality rate 2.8 times higher among blacks than whites. Most victims were reported to be armed (83%); however, black victims were more likely to be unarmed (14.8%) than white (9.4%) or Hispanic (5.8%) victims. Fatality rates among military veterans/active duty service members were 1.4 times greater than among their civilian counterparts. Four case subtypes were examined based on themes that emerged in incident narratives: about 22% of cases were mental health related; 18% were suspected “suicide by cop” incidents, with white victims more likely than black or Hispanic victims to die in these circumstances; 14% involved intimate partner violence; and about 6% were unintentional deaths due to LE action. Another 53% of cases were unclassified and did not fall into a coded subtype. Regression analyses identified victim and incident characteristics associated with each case subtype and unclassified cases.“

Stopping people from looting and killing others isn't tyranny.

Using the army against your own people is. As it was in Tiananmen Square(extreme example)

Or to protect oneself from he domestic terrorists enbedded deeply in the ANTIFA or BLM crowd. The tyranny of government isn't the same as making sure that domestic terror is quelled.

Or you, for that matter. Nice attempted dodge though. Explain the looting and the rioting then for us. why burn down buildings? Why attack city buildings or the police?

Peaceful protest doesn’t seem to be working.
There are always people who can’t resist looting. I make no excuse for them. I read about a white cop who was helping with the looting- anecdotal I know.
Why isn’t the president addressing the real issues?

Hmmm... so because "peaceful" doesn't "seem" to work for you, that justifies the terror these mobs then inflict. Is that your position? And let's be transparent here. Would you really want the president monday morning quarterbacking local law enforcement? Really? That seems pretty lame on your part. Did it make you "feelz" better when Obama took the wrong side in the Trayvon era? Do you suppose that presidential bullying the country into a racist frenzy was really a good thing? When "hands up, don't shoot" was exposed for the farce it was,, did you cry?

Yours seems a tight world or uncomfortable racism. That doesn't seem very healthy...

    Wrong.

The protestors in Tiananmen square weren't burning down Chinese stores and killing other Chinese civilians.

The Red Army was being used against its compatriots.

The Red Army was used against the people protesting the Communist Party.

If you want a repeat of Tianamen square (which most Chinese people don't even know about), elect someone like Bernie Sanders.

Then you'll have tanks rolling over people for political opinions.

Why is all the violence and looting in areas that don't support the 2nd Amendment? Anywhere that a shop owner can legally threaten to shoot looters doesn't seem to have looting problems.

There are quite a few non black people shot and killed in the USA and I think some of the issue is shithouse training of the police force

The USA seems to bypass a lot of negotiation and go straight to force as a response
