People have a valid reason to complain. Governors are acting like we are mindless sacks of flesh, and wish to tell us what is right. Business owners need to understand the implications of siding with such authoritarianism.

Letting someone get their groceries, and get out isn’t rocket science. So they don’t have a mask? It’s not the end of the world. Such sheep need to be put in their place, even if it feels uncomfortable to do so at first. Nothing is going to happen if someone goes in without a mask, buys bread and leaves. This is obviously too hard for governors to figure out. This is why EOs need to be left to only the president to use.

No exceptions. I don’t condone any governor using any force or coercion. Our governor has shown more restraint than most, but doesn’t have a perfect non-authoritarian record.

What do you think of this?

I’m not a fan of Republicans, and there isn’t much to Nebraska, but this is a time I can agree with the other side of the aisle. More governors need to do this. Withholding funding will spark outrage, and thus it won’t only be powerless citizens fighting back. It’s a drastic measure, but a much needed one.

You want the funding? Drop the mask mandate. Pretty simple.

If you don’t like masks you would enjoy Nebraska. :)

Only a handful of counties care, mainly the 2-3 metropolitan ones.

You mean Nebraska actually got something right for once?

It seems like the Nebraska governor is the only governor making sense. Seriously, why wouldn’t more governors follow suit if this isn’t a matter of political power?

I absolutely understand why everyone is being forced to wear a face binky...but you do not.

What don’t you like about NE? The nonpartisan unicameral? Or the splitting of electoral college delegates instead of winner take all? Or maybe that the state consistently contributes more to the federal treasury than it takes? Maybe our successful educational system that includes a world class medical research hospital so good some of the first repatriated cruise ship passengers with C19 were sent there? Or is it the fact it has a low population, yet is one of the most fiscally stable states in the Union? Or maybe we just vote red too much in national elections. That’s what really matters I suppose. :)

Seriously, what in your opinion does NE get wrong? I’m genuinely interested.
I really have mixed feelings about the governor. We’ve had better. But I’m glad he handled C19 pretty well. For a guy worth over $50 million and being the son of a billionaire he understands his constituents well. No stay at home orders. Minimal business closures. Now relatively sane masking policy.

Every time I’ve been through NE, nothing there has done much for me. Just land for miles. It’s a lot like the other densely populated states. The state could use to be more exciting, maybe then more would live there. I say the same thing about Wyoming and Kansas. A whole lot of nothing you could have turned into something, but there’s still a lot of nothing.

I guess you did produce Warren Buffett.

I assume you mean unpopulated not densely populated?

Ah, you’d like to see theme parks, high rise offices buildings, and parking garages on your drive. Then when you get home you go to bed hungry. :)

A drive through NE on interstate 80 is boring and monotonous. I’ll give you that. That’s not representative of the rest of the state. We are all thankful though because that fact alone helps keep people from moving here.

“Land you could have turned into something!” That’s going to keep me smiling for a while. Here’s what we turn it into. Tires, diapers, spark plugs, shoes, fuel, hand sanitizer, crayons, shampoo, bacon, envelopes, batteries, tooth paste, glass cleaner, steaks, oil, drywall, glue, bioengineered human tissue, matches, bricks, soft drinks, insulin, deodorant, toilet paper, pizza, baseball gloves, bone China, printing ink, antifreeze, jello, chicken sandwiches, candles, car and furniture leather upholstery, air filters, felt, insulation, particle board, industrial solvents, donuts, carpet, oil spill cleanup detergents, car body parts, ice chests, pie, beer, golf tees, kitty litter, vodka, Play Doh, licorice, floor wax, bullets, tambourines, hamburgers, and biodegradable plastic bags and six pack rings. There’s more of course but that gives a little idea of what we’ve turned all that land into! :)
