No, the working class Democrats realized the elites left them behind for identity politics

Cummings worried about tomorrow and died before it came trying to impeach Trump..

    A suggestion..

Matthew 6:34 New International Version (NIV)
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

As an atheist, I wonder where Matthew got this wisdom from, which is obviously true.

And he's on the road to get re-elected.

It sounds like you're unhappy with the voters... you really think limiting their choices is the proper response?

I try to avoid predicting the future...

I think so. The biggest flaw of democracy is its ability to commit suicide. Donald's presidency points in this direction. Donald is a wannabe-dictator and closer to Adolph Hitler than any US president before him.

I think the Constitution lists good minimums. You can add whatever requirement you would like for your choice of candidate.

Also, the last President without a college degree was Harry S. Truman (and the one before that was McKinley). It's just not going to happen again today.

Oh please, Barack Obama race agitated for eight years and he was a Constitutional Scholar who knew nothing about the Constitution and nor the economy and nor HOW capitalism works and nor why it -- rather than socialism -- made this nation's economy great.

Trump went to Wharton, and with Trump's overriding and culling out of what was taught by the dumber professor's, Trump is exactly what the USA needs.

Only if you can prove that the "educated" are less likely prone to corruption...

Couldn't possibly disagree more! A college education says nothing at all about an individual's intelligence. The reason employers value a degree, is that it's proof the individual is capable of committing to something, and then working through to completion. It also indicates good research skills, and an ability to absorb information delivered in sometimes less than ideal circumstances.

Of course none of that applies if it's a degree in Feminist Basket Weaving or similar. My dog could complete one of those courses.

actually the reason that employers value a college degree is that due to concerns over being accused of racism or sexism, they are very reluctant to use pre employment aptitude tests for positions. So they use the "do you have a college degree" to cull out vast numbers of applicants.

Today and since we've had online job posting and applicants, which i'm sure for many jobs, the responses to job postings can be in the thousands or even millions, employers have no choice but to use filters. Does this system find the 10 best applicants for each job...not even close...

I could not disagree more, with your suggestion, for a host of reasons; first of which, is your apparent belief, that a college diploma insures that a given individual, is not a total dumbass. From my experience, I know this is a mistaken presumption, you make. I'll remind you, Trump has a B.S. in Economics, from U. Penn's prestigious Wharton School. Also, the G.W. Bush/Dick Cheney ticket were both college men-- and how do you feel that turned out? I could go on, but I think you get my point.
Don't misunderstand me, as not agreeing that the "AVERAGE" college graduate, is more likely to be "qualified," that is, more to the point, has a greater chance of possessing the adequate skills & background understandings, to handle the job, than the average non-grad. We do not vote, however, on hypothetical, "average," candidates. In your attempt to decrease the odds of us electing someone who is incompetent, you might be preventing some of our potentially best presidents, from ever running for the office.

Here are a few examples of people who did not earn college diplomas, but who showed themselves to be MORE intelligent, more able to handle complex issues, and to understand things in depth, as well as from a global perspective, than the "average" college graduate. I am going to give a different list than I have given for years. I typically started with the person who many would call one of the greatest inventors of at least the last century and a half, if not longer: Thomas Edison. I would then proceed to other historical geniuses, such as Leonardo da Vinci, who was essentially self-educated, with NO formal education, to speak of. But the response that became typical was along the lines of, " that was back then-- nowadays everything is much more technical; you can't just tinker on your own, anymore."

So, instead, I will give list of all "tech," guys, who contributed greatly to creating this age, which many believe has disqualified anyone without a degree, from achievement or being deemed competent. I assume that you've heard of the 2 college drop-outs, who created Apple Computer, Steve Jobs & Steve Wozniak? Would you rate their intelligence as sub-par, compared to COLLEGE GRADUATES, in general? But, even if they knew computers, surely they lacked the proper academic background, to be able to think of things from a GLOBAL perspective, wouldn't you say?

How about Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook)? Or Michael Dell, who founded Dell Computer? And lastly, would you say that, because they dropped out of college, the two men behind the company Microsoft, Paul Allen & Bill Gates, would be out of their depths, if faced with any "complex issues?"

Of course these people are exceptional, but only an exceptional person would have the opportunity to become president, when his lack of a college diploma would be guaranteed to be an issue, in our country, in which so many, associate degrees with ability, and regard the lack of one as more than sufficient reason to write off even a person's opinion, much less consider for a moment, that they might have the slightest proficiency, leading our nation (to anything but ruin). This sounds like elitism, to me which, while it may not be the most taboo-- with society's current focus on racism and other prejudices-- is still just as much a form of bigotry; and that is a tree that only bears poison fruit.
But what do I know-- I don't have a degree.

I listen to you. I'm not prejudiced against people that don't have college degrees. ;-)

Several years ago I hired a high schooler to take care of my kids when they came home from school (I work from home). She was on the Honor Roll all four years and had been accepted into a good college. I made some allowances considering that a teenager with no children won't think like a middle-ager with kids but some of the stuff she did just baffled me. She didn't have the common sense of a housefly. I kept her on until she start school that Fall but I was <smdh> most days.

Also, I know a couple of professional football players and neither one of them know how to count. People always wonder how some "big name" person was so rich and ended up broke. That didn't happen to the guys I know but it happens quite a bit because the money earner doesn't know how to count money. I had to take a math test to get a part-time job as a cashier in high school. I'm not sure they are still doing that because I've met several cashiers that lost their minds when their register didn't pop up the amount of change due the customer.

I fired a woman a couple years ago because she was a witch and I couldn't take her bad attitude anymore but I'd be lying to say that part of it was her lack of ethics. She took out a student loan to go to training to become a CNA (Certified Nurses' Assistant). She finished the coursework but she failed the actual exam...twice. In her head, she shouldn't have to repay the loan because "they made the test too hard." Well, it's not a "you can take our money forever if you are too stupid or lack the discipline necessary to pass the required certification test" loan. It's a "we'll float you for a year or two. Pay us back when you get a job." That's how LOANS work. She also lived with her boyfriend but he kept his stuff at his parents' house because she claimed to be a single mother and gets Public Aid so she's got some personal integrity issues across the board.

Although I'm half/half on the speed of the internet. I think it's great that we can talk to just about anybody in the world that lives outside North Korea and parts of China, but I think these latest generations are missing the socialization needed to live and work in a cooperative society. I also like that someone can showcase their skills and get endorsements or job offers by proving they have what it takes versus hiring managers looking at a piece of paper and trying to make an educated guess on a good fit. As you stated, there are many people that have contributed significantly to society and mankind that don't have college degrees and there is a functionally illiterate, self-professed super genius that thinks windmill noise kills birds and hurricanes can be nuked, so there ya' go!
