I've thought about participating here for a while but have been a bit hesitant. I love current events and politics and discussion of the two and therefore watch more than my share of news programs. However, my wife won't watch them with me because she has an aversion to conflict and so considers bickering what I view as simply debate. Obviously there's plenty of that on this site so I'm hopeful my participation will alleviate my inclination to want to talk politics with her. My moniker is intended to make clear that although I was once a lifetime Democrat, two years ago I re-registered as independent because, as a moderate, I was frustrated with the party's continuing move to the left. Although I am therefore clearly not a Progressive, I do still consider myself a Liberal. Whether that self assessment will be borne out in my posts remains to be seen.
