what you suggest, while accurate imo, is near impossible in one fell swoop

The Kuomintang had the PLA trapped in Manchuria when Marshall cut off their resupply and demanded the formation of a coalition government. That was the first missed opportunity to eliminate the CCP.

I suppose we could try to take out the PLA/PLAN with targeted nuclear strikes. It would be a mess. And the Chinese are generally very good people - including the soldiers and sailers.
If that happens it will be the culmination of more than 70 years of consistently stupid US China policy.
Every American "China Hand" who could speak fluent mandarin should have been kicked back into the private sector starting in the 1930s. That might have helped - might still help.

We could get most of them. for the rest all we need is to deploy enough ABMs to soak them up.

We can use nuclear weapons against China without even coming close to committing genocide.

Remember what Mao himself reportedly said in the 1960s (paraphrased).

"So what if the Americans can kill 300 million Chinese. There are still 600 million of us left".

You're the one that doesn't know what "genocide" means.

Nobody wants to have nuclear war with China, Ronnie... OK? But, if we finally discover that (surprise!) China actually DID deliberately create and allow the distribution of a highly-contagious, lethal virus on the United States (we have more cases than anyone else by FAR), then what are we supposed to do? Just sit around on our sorrowful, confused asses and let them kill us off...?

A naval blockade would not be an unreasonable response by the U.S. It plays to our strengths against Chinese weaknesses.

No one will be starting a nuclear war.

    That is beyond batsh*t crazy.

Conventional war would also be crazy, but for less dramatic reasons. The WW2 guys like Ike and Truman sought to build peace partly through business. If we stopped doing business with China, forgetting everything else, and there's a lot of everything elses (sorry) it would seriously damage the economy.

In fact, there's a generous list of 'that's crazy, we're not doing that'.

No way is the U. S. going to blockade Chinese ports. They would simply 'up the ante' and threaten to send dozens of nuclear weapons down on our cities. We would be right back to the old "mutual-assured destruction" stalemate immediately, and the United States would do NOTHING.

BUT... what if our agents and operatives took some of our own lab-engineered diseases and let them loose in China? We've got them, and so does nearly every other above-average nation in the world, too. Nearly all countries embarked on very energetic chemical and biological weapons research after World War ONE. Think about that a moment....

A lot of our Asian allies would support China. It would cripple our economy, and start a conflict we could not finish.

You don't have an endgame. But you have opened up a world of hurt for us, China and the Pacific rim.

I do hope you're not serious.

Diseases don't stop at borders. The reason no one uses them is because it would be like stuffing a rabid badger down your own pants.

Yeh, but -- isn't it a bit ODD how quickly and rather easily China recovered from the onset of their engineered virus -- but here WE are, the United States of America, with FAR more cases of this virus, and a much more trashed-out economy to deal with than any other country on earth...?

Nobody ever said the Chinese are stupid, because they most assuredly are NOT.... Meanwhile, our own political landscape has very little in it but stupid people... all of whom HATE each other.... :psychoitc::frustrated:

Long since too old. Most of my family have already completed their service as well. My wifes first cousin is retired but last I heard he was working as a contractor aboard a barge with a towed sonar array looking for North Korean subs.

South Korea did an even better job than China at controlling the virus.

What's odd is that we showed them how to do it.

The Corona virus did not come from Texas or Florida. It came from China. Of that there is no doubt.

the idiots in Texas and Florida opened too early and refuse to lock down and take precautions.

their selfish acts are killing Americans.

we should nuke them, so they cant hurt anyone else

Seeing as your president ignores every expert's advice and rather dreams of his mug being chiselled into Mt. Rushmore than stopping the crisis rolling over your nation, no, it's not odd.

The much revered (don't know why) Gov. of New York killed more people by putting infected people back into nursing homes.
