Well it is if white cops patrolling in black neighborhoods are hated and considered an occupying force.

Who would want to deal with this every day?

I would suggest a better way would be to require policemen to actually LIVE in the neighborhood they patrol. If a particular neighborhood is 100% black, then I guess you'd have 100% black officers. or vice versa.

Police forces should better represent the communities they police.

I agree with you -- hell, ANYTHING is better than the entire 'Black Community' rejecting and rioting against enforcement of the laws that "We, the People" govern ourselves by.

BUT -- and you knew there would be a 'but' -- if an area of town is predominately White, and all the police in that area (because they live there) are White, then Blacks will raise hell that they're being forced out and start screaming that this is SEGREGATION and APARTHEID!

Everybody in this thread tells me I'm totally wrong, and even "racist" for saying this, but, trust me -- the 'Black Community' will never (NEVER) be happy until or unless every single police officer is BLACK, in towns, cities, and precincts where Blacks are the large majority....

The enigma and irony we face in this country today is that Blacks demand to be granted the right to be included in everything, even to the point of being given 'preference', whether they deserve it or not on the basis of merit or not -- but -- they don't want to OBEY LAWS that apply equally to every citizen of the United States!

Instead, they make heroes and martyrs out of law-breaking creeps like George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, Kenneth Walker (Breonna Taylor's boyfriend), Jacob Blake, and Daunte Wright.... That's why I say that until we give Black 'communities' the 100% Black police departments they really want, we'll just have more of the same. :dead:

Oh, BTW, 'here we go again'.... Link: https://www.foxnews.com/us/andrew-b...north-carolina-deputy-schools-remote-protests

Here's another jerk who was wanted in connection with an arrest warrant... and like most of the others, this one had a lengthy criminal record already.

Same 'song', next verse. And this sad 'song' goes on forever in the United States now....

Just once I'd like to see someone in the BLM/ANTIFA mobs carrying a sign that says, "OBEY THE LAW AND YOU WON'T GET SHOT!"

This is somewhat confusing, partly because the word "Black" needs to be further defined.

    I went with :
"There shouldn't be racial 'set-asides'. All police depts. should be staffed on a color-blind basis"
but....... there are a lot of Americans who appear to be "Black" who may be eighty percent genetically Caucasian. Many First Nations Reserves here in Canada have police forces that are at least ninety percent officers who are from the First Nations Tribes of Canada and that seems to work reasonably well.

At best such communities should have 100% whites, preferable ones of the East European origin.

What if a position has an opening and choosing a black candidate would mean blacks are over represented and they have no white candidates should the position be held open until a white person can be recruited?

No "if" yes or no? Is diversity important? More important than having enough police officers to protect the citizens?

if diversity is important, then yes, need to wait for a white employee

and do not put that the requirement is white person, make everyone else waste their time and still apply

So you have a police force of 100 people and not enough are black and officers are leaving for whatever reason and no blacks are applying and you get down to 80 officers and you still wait and wait and wait?

Why does race matter AT ALL? What if there are not enough whites in the department, don't hire more blacks?

if diversity is important when it's all whites, then diversity is important when it's all blacks.. right

either that or we hire first come, first hire based on qualifications

Well what is more important the color of the applicants skin or their qualifications? So if it were the case that the proportion of whites on the police force did not match the proportion of whites in the community hiring of blacks should be halted even if that means and public security issue...........amazing. Diversity trumps that...........:wall:

    thus you agreed with me

what part of this do you disagree with?

I am against affirmative action, I believe the best candidate for the job should get the job - but I also believe we should not exclude people based on race either

only hiring black cops or only hiring white cops - excludes based on race

Soon, this question will be a non-issue because cops won't go into the black areas. If/when they want cops they will have to have their own.
