    That's a good thing, right?

    Are you included in that?
Or is it only others that you are referring to?

Are you saying that people who have empathy for animals
    have evil impulses?
Writers can "hide behind language." They can carefully construct
words so as to "say what they don't actually say." Devious?
There is such a thing as the "serpentine use of words" that
are meandering clusters of bluster that leads to a jungle-maze
    of a Labyrinth of Pomposity.
So what are you saying? That people who have empathy for animals
are trying to please their own tyrannical God?
Are you saying that people who have empathy for animals have
    inner wickedness?

Are you referring to yourself or only to others?

Are you one of the radicals? Or are you referring only to others?

Yah. Lotta places to go hunting in America.

I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to animal rights radicals/activists who condemn hunting as a blood sport, and hunters as murderers. Sorry if it sounded like I was talking about you or your op.

I don't believe in killing an animal for sport either. I understand if people need clothes, or food, but for sport, I find it wrong.

I remember growing up and finding a baby rabbit in one of my cats mouths. I saved it before my cat could kill it, or injure it to far, from the point of no return. I think I was around 14 years old. I stayed up half the night, trying to care for it. One must be careful not to overfeed an animals. I think I killed it by overfeeding it. That sucked.

If I'm talking a walk, and I see a rabbit near the road, I try and shew it, away from the road. I live in a little country town of around 2 thousand people.

Once, on the highway, speed limit 55 mph, I started to go down a steep hill, and people kept getting over in the right lane.
It was because there was a dead deer in the left lane. I mean a full size buck.
I got to the bottom of the hill, and pulled a uey. The put my flashers on, and dragged it to the side of the road with my gloves on.

I feel bad enough when an animal gets run over, but even worse, if it continues to get run over. It's dead, let it rest in peace.
Not only that, but if nobody would have moved it, sooner or later there could have easily been a wreck!
I would never want a family with kids to get in a wreck, because the deer was there.

    Some coward left it there.

Saw a badly injured deer, badly broken leg... I do not know how many people had passed it before I stopped and put a couple of slugs in it head. It was right on the outskirts of a small town. Many people are confused about what is comp[assion towards animals.. for example, I have a nieghbor that came back to town and started feeding a couple of feral cats... soon we had a dozen or more feral cats... killing everything in a wide circle (including my wild rabbits), however I beleive those cats attracted the attention of a larger predator (probably a bobcat) and due to drought and fewer resources in the wild, they have been thinned out

In New Zealand, the govt has to periodically fly around in helicopters to shoot elk because the elk have no predators other than humans and not enough humans hunting them to manage their population. If no one shoots the elk, they will overpopulate, ruin the local ecology and suffer starvation and disease. The elk shot by the govt are left on the ground to rot (which presumably also contributes to disease...). My guess is that shooting from helicopters isn't a great way to get a clean, 'humane' kill shot, and many of these elk shot by the government die rather slowly and painfully in comparison to those shot by a hunter on the ground that is interested in the elk dying quickly so it doesn't run very far after its shot.

It seems to me that both New Zealand's elk and New Zealand's taxpayers would benefit from more people in New Zealand that enjoyed killing elk for fun, and especially if those 'killers' enjoyed eating elk as well, as it would be adding extremely nutritious protein to the economy instead of draining the economy to pay govt employees to fly around in helicopters to shoot the elk.

So the question is, whats 'better': to pay people to shoot elk because otherwise they wouldn't, or to let the people who enjoy shooting elk do it for free?

FTR: recreational hunting is a thing a New Zealand, its just not enough of a thing to suitably control the elk population.

Yeah, it sucks to have to put an animal down, but if it's going to die anyways, and is simply going to suffer in the meantime, it is definately always the right thing to do.

I use to live out in the country even more so, than where I currently live, and I'd take in stray cats, and get them fixed. Unfortunately, the highway road, people would go anywhere from 55-75. The speed limit was 55mph. One night, when I was calling all of the cats in, I couldn't find one. I looked on the road. The cat had been run over, but only partially. However, it's insides were showing. Even if I had rushed it to an emergency vet, there was no chance that it would have lived. So I took it in the back yard and cut its head off.

Then I buried it, and said a prayer for it. I hated to do it(kill it), and didn't want to, but it was the right thing to do. I ended its suffering.

I drove through the "back country" of my state where education is low and right wing politics rule, and I was APPALLED at the number of poor, innocent "post turtles" I saw as I passed through! That's torture! And it's up to parents to educate their 8-year-old kid to be kind to animals and not do such things. And why weren't the parents and other adults rescuing those turtles whenever they see them? ....Low education and right wing politics.
