Well not even Fauci thinks that a travel ban is a good idea.

 

Don't forget that Trump semi-banned travel from China (except for the 50,000 who entereed the US from China after the 'ban') and saved America. His responsibility ended there, apart from giving rambling press conferences and contradictory public statements.

Of course, that was back when he vaguely cared about doing the job of President. All he cares about now is trying to overturn the election result so he won't be seen as a 'loser'. Anything resembling governing has long since ceased and will not resume.

 

Yeah and we know what Trump thinks about Fauci travel ban advice. Remember how he keeps telling us how he banned traveled from China even though everyone criticized him for it.

No, I don't think so.

 

If you're talking about the new Covid mutation, it already is in the US. Plus, as of Dec 2020, everybody travelling to the US from the UK is required to test negative. A 'travel ban' like Trump issued in early 2020 wouldn't change an awful lot anyway, because due to its numerous exceptions, it really wasn't a 'ban.'

We do have travel screening in place. The new strain has already be detected in Colorado, California and Florida though.

Don't let the media scare you though. While the new strain is more contagious, there is no indication that it causes more severe cases and the current vaccine is still supposed to be effective.

Viruses mutate. Coronaviruses usually mutate to become more contagious and less severe/deadly at the same time.

 

Well the exceptions were returning US citizens, right?

 

None of this justifies keeping the border open to the country of origin of the new strain, as far as I'm concerned.

Testing is required before anyone from U.K. can come to the U.S. That was added to U.K. travel restrictions which have been in place since March.

Yes. The PCR tests are kind of garbage. So there is that.

Initially we were taking peoples' temperatures of the few people we allowed to travel from China, plus quarantines. We didn't have any tests that early.

 

According to the first dot point, the US has applied a travel ban. This must have literally just happened.

 

Why? Is it so much better in the U.K?

All immigration and VISAS should be banned. Problem solved.
