    Do you remember back in 2010 when Arizona passed SB-1070?

    Arizona had decided that since the Obama Administration refused to enforce immigration laws, they would do it for them.

    Naturally, the Obama Justice Department sued the state of Arizona. And the case made it all the way to the Supreme Court.

    The outcome was not good for Arizona.

    SCOTUS ruled that when it comes to immigration laws, the Executive branch has plenary power and states have no business getting in the way.

    Well, here we are in 2018 and the state of California has declared itself a Sanctuary State – effectively obstructing the Executive branch’s enforcement of immigration law.

    Naturally, the Trump Justice Department is suing California over its sanctuary policy.

    But thanks to Obama suing Arizona, we now know that the Executive branch has plenary power when it comes to the enforcement of immigration laws.

    In other words, California is screwed.

    Back in January of 2017, I pointed out that this SCOTUS ruling could come back to bite these Sanctuary-loving Democrats in the ass.

    But Democrats never think these things through, do they?

    Democrats aren't big on securing our borders at either the state or federal level.

    Now that SCOTUS has confirmed that the Federal govt oversees border security-California will have no choice but to comply with the law.

    We ARE a nation of laws.

    This thread belongs in the Political Opinions Forum.

    The 10th amendment prevents the Federal Government from forcing the State of California to spend state resources enacting or enforcing Federal Law.

    No it doesn't, it fits all of the necessities of a current event.

    I do have to ask, in your opinion, why is the AZ situation so different from the CA situation?

    The OP makes a good point, if I remember correctly the quote goes "Elections have Consequences".

    Do you have an opinion on Trump's comment from last week that maybe he'll pull ICE completely out of California and let them deal with a problem they obviously don't want to deal with? I would suspect at some point CA would come begging for federal help once the body count and criminal activity hits a certain point.

    There is absolutely no logical reason for CA to want to be flooded with illegals other than votes and congressional seats. I know, you know, this board knows and the country knows this has nothing to do with compassion. Nothing.

    This is all wrong. As fast as ICE exports one illegal, Jerry Brown imports twenty more.

    Trump needs to utilize the minutemen of the 50 states. (OK, forget Hawaii)

    The volunteer militia can go into CA as special agents for U.S. Immigration and round up the illegals. They can deliver truckloads of illegals to ICE and then ICE can do the paperwork and export. It should not take long for the deportations.

    You got legal papers? OK, you are set free.

    You don't have legal papers and are here illegally? You get exported on the next bus to Tijuana.

    Give militia broad search and seizure powers with full immunity...they will get the job done! Any backlash towards the special agents from CA's police...send in the military and scramble some eggs.

    Of course, cons are worried about votes since they set on immigrants, both legal and illegal, at every opportunity. In fact, cons and the Republican Party sxxt on minoroties, non-white ethnicities and the poor as part of their platform.

    No surprises here, just more of the same.

    As for the case, we’ll see.

    Why did it take Jeff Sessions this long? The Obama administration was very fast to act against AZ on the immigration issue there.

    Sleepy Jeff needs to be replaced. He literally masturbated for a whole year then finally does something and expects to be praised?

    If you are at all honest with yourself and others, the economy, jobs and WAGES are stagnating because of 16.9 percent of the workforce is immigrant labor. Go ahead and shill for low wages for corporations, dems are losing whether you like it or not.

    Bullshit. Wages stagnate because conservatives hire illegals at below mining wage and are beholden to their shareholders.

    Case in point, Carrier took the incentive dollars to keep work in the US, waited a year, then shipped their jobs off to Mexico anyway.

    So the federal govt cannot force the states to spend state resources enforcing federal gun laws, OSHA and EPA and HUD and Dept of Education and Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

    You are a states rights and Constitutional original intent supporter after all.

    I don't have to check it out. I already gave you an UNBIASED LINK to the BLS data showing 16.9 percent of the workforce is immigrant labor (27 MILLION). THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION for that many in our workforce coming out of a major recession. Lose more elections scratching your head why you keep losing elections for all I care.
