https://www.yahoo.com/news/us-astronauts-prepare-spacex-nasa-return-home-iss-155141383.html I find this to be very exciting, and one of the few pieces of good news we've had lately. I followed for hours the launch and now I'm happy to see that the capsule returned to Earth safety. This is a great example of private-public partnership between Space X and NASA, and as an American it makes me proud. Neat, huh?
I watched all morning, what a great achievement for a Space Start Up, just kidding. This is historic, one serious nutcase of a visionary, shows of the rest of the world, just amazing. Well done SpaceX and well done Elon Musk.
You should watch some of the early video of their rocket testing and the failures and Elon's hilarious one-liners about them.
SpaceX brings NASA astronauts home safe in milestone mission Yes America needed a win and this was an excellent one.
Elon Musk can be the biggest kook on the planet, but damn! he sure does get stuff done, doesn't he? I still get goosebumps over that previous SpaceX achievement, when they sent up three reusable rockets, and landed them neatly all in a sychronized row. That, too, was effing awesome!
Bush and Obama set us on the right track with mixing NASA and the Commercial sector for sure, the right was very upset with Obama at the time it's kinda like the Internet, it's gonna be growing big "How Obama brought capitalism to outer space" - Oct. 11, 2016 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news.../how-obama-brought-capitalism-to-outer-space/ "When the space shuttle was retired in 2011, NASA looked to the commercial sector to fly its astronauts and cargo to the International Space Station, fertilizing the industry with billions of dollars in contracts. And in the past few years, the industry has begun to blossom, reinvigorating interest in space with dramatic landings of rockets on ships with other, unprecedented feats."
Oh, I didn't know it came from Bush and Obama. Silly me, I was kind of applauding the Trump Administration for a successful private-public partnership.
It's been a good little stretch for SpaceX. A couple days ago they "hopped" the fifth iteration of their Starship (SN5), ~150 meters and landed it again:
