While the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives passed a coronavirus relief bill on May 15, McConnell has not yet gotten Republicans to unite behind any plan.
Why did McConnell drag his arse rather than crafting a coherent Republican plan while Democrats put one together 3 months ago?

Wow, Addison! You mean that it didn't just "go away!" as Trump promised months ago?

Can the nation afford to wait as you persist in your paralysis until Fake Don's crappy auguries comes true?

Republican senators have attacked McConnell for his failure.

And again Republicans offered four plans all of which were totally rejected by democrats.

As you must be aware, McConnell finally got around to proposing a woefully inadequate excuse of a plan in late July, and still can't get Senate Republicans to support it.

Trump will not allow McConnell's failure to unite Republicans prevent him from taking advantage of Democrats' commitment to provide relief. The American people demand it.

He desperately needs that for his own personal agenda, and that is all that ever motivates him.

This thread should be in the politics hall of fame.

The poster well known for their political leanings, those leanings clearly fiscal conservative, no matter what, in the past, now advocates that those that have leaned for policies they were against, are now wrong because their position now matches more closely with their past positions.

The undeniable, objective fact is that Democrats sought to provide continuing relief in the vital matter addressed below, and Republicans, albeit disagreeing and unable to form a united, coherent policy, have blocked it.

Ideological dogma runs up against stark reality:

Here's fact. If the Republicans offer $1T the Dens will demand $2T. If the Republicans then say $1.5T the Dems will demand $3T.

The Dems do not want a package they want an issue to take to the election.

Republicans offered four plans. Democrats flatly refused every single one with no offers to budge a bit from their plan.

When one party won't compromise the system is useless.

That is the benefit of congressional gridlock. Without it we would be in serious trouble. Partisan laws would reign supreme.

When one party won't compromise then it is a partisan bill and partisan bills should never become law. If both sides can't agree that it is good for the country then it likely isn't good for the country.

Right. So when tens of millions of Americans have lost their jobs, the important thing is to make sure the people who still have jobs get to keep even more of their money.

Helping people who really need it isn’t even on your radar.

Bull, many of them are already making more on unemployment than they did working, it's about time the ones paying that bill get a little back.

You are so full of it, those who are still working and hanging on the edge need help, not those sitting on their butts collecting unemployment plus $600 more.

In this case compassion has noting to do with it, compassion is voluntary out of the heart, forced compassion is political vote buying.

Both Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer had previously said that if the President tried to step in and take executive action on this matter that they would go to court to block him. Well, he’s done it. Make His Day!

Democrats thought harming unemployed workers benefitted the Democrats who would see the angry army of unemployed showing up at the polls, with the lying fake news media directing their anger at Trump.

But Trump has stepped in with the Hammer of Thor and restored $400/wk of the additional that Democrats let lapse to zero. Chuck and Nancy will either sue to stop the President from helping all of those who are out of work or eat their words. Brilliant play, Mr. President! Speaker Pelosi can either back down on her previous threat and let the money flow or be the one to personally block the unemployed from receiving a boost.

Game! Set! Match! It pays to have a President with a brain, when Biden doesn't and Pelosi's atrophies from lack of use.

Matters not, Trump just shoved it up the Democrat's as*'*.

And if the people of Democrat area's want the full funding, their Democrat leaders need to kick in their share, or pay the price for coming up short.
