    Sadly it's not. They just have different subjects they want to curtail speech on.

    I remember when they forced me to say the lords prayer against my will every morning. I remember when they tried to ban Harry Potter because witchcraft. I remember when they tried to ban Hustler magazine. I remember when they banned homosexuals from outing themselves in the military. Don't ask dont tell (and that was the "liberal's" compromise. I remember when they tried to blame street violence on metal music and videogames. I even remember when they tried to ban the teletubbies because they said the pink one is gay.

    But today I see people who call themselves "liberals" and "progressives" rioting and tearing down statues, telling me what pronouns i must use or its hate speech, etc.

    Something has shifted. Authoritarianism, censorship and compelled speech used to be something pushed hard on the right, and I was proud to stand in solidarity against it. But now I really do see more of it on the left, and as a lifelong liberal free speech advocate, I don't know how to deal with that.
