an important distinction to make though is that so called african american indentured servants were forcibly made so, where as for the irish or european indentured servants it was a life choice.

What you are pursuing is a red herring. The point of my OP is that the Founding Fathers/elite planter class created "White" people to manipulate their workers (African slaves, European indentured servants). They did this to optimize their profits and control. Divide and conquer. They made laws to get the results they wanted.
So, I am not so going to waste time discussing the legal status of the first 20 Africans in Jamestown. I have my opinion and you have yours. We'll leave it at that.

Also, Bacon's Rebellion helped push them to use African slaves rather than European indentured servants. They needed a cheap labor source who couldn't protest or escape their bondage. After the late 1600s European indentured servants were displaced by African slaves, for the most part.

yes they were comparatively cheaper. naysayers keep going on about how expensive so called african america slaves were [to try and prove that the master would treat them well due to the investment] but that investment was relatively cheap considering it was a lifetime of servitude.

I'm not sure chattel slavery started with Anthony Johnson. I did read where Anthony started out as a slave who bought his freedom and then purchased slaves himself. He became wealthy and enjoyed his freedom until he died in 1670.
The laws concerning race and slavery changed drastically after Anthony's death. (Due to Bacon's Rebellion and other uprisings). His children (if he had any) would not enjoy the same freedom and protection under the law that he enjoyed. From 1681 till 1705 laws were put into place that marked the beginning of real chattel slavery for Africans, while at the same time increasing rights and privileges for "Whites".
So, there were not many Anthony Johnsons. The Founding Fathers made sure of that.

Yes. In the long run, the African slaves were cheaper. And any babies the female slaves gave birth to, added to the Master's wealth.

You have your opinion, I have the historical record. But fair enough. You imagine the world in a way that makes you feel good.

I must make a correction. After reading Anthony's story again, I see that he was an indentured servant, not a slave. He was born in Angola.
Most Africans during that time were slaves.

What constitutes being white? I tested my DNA, results indicate I have DNA markers for both Africa and Native American Ancestry? So, ???....
