Beginning in 2011, US-allied forces attacked Syria with a terrorist army. The Syrian "rebels" - as they were called in the elite liberal media - got arms, training, and advice through a secret command center in Jordan, staffed by senior military officials from the US, Western Europe, Israel and the Gulf states to wage a covert war against the Syrian government.

In 2012, the DIA judged that out of the war could emerge "a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in Eastern Syria, and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime."

The CIA helped allies "decide which Syrian opposition fighters" would receive arms. Most Saudi & Qatari weapons went to "hard-line Islamic jihadists." The State Dept was unable identify a single "moderate" rebel group that received Western support.

The failure of moderate rebels "to secure regular arms supplies has allowed Islamists to fill the void and win supporters". Thus rebel-held areas were "dotted with Islamic courts staffed by lawyers and clerics," who want to "infuse Islamic law into a future Syrian government".

US watched ISIS rise in Syria and hoped to 'manage' it — Kerry on leaked tape

“The reason Russia came in is because ISIL was getting stronger, Daesh was threatening the possibility of going to Damascus and so forth. And that’s why Russia went in. íBecause they didn’t want a Daesh government and they supported Assad.

“And we know that this was growing. We were watching. We saw that Daesh was growing in strength, and we thought Assad was threatened. We thought, however, we could probably manage, that Assad would then negotiate. Instead of negotiating, he got Putin to support him.”

The White Helmets are part of a Western backed psychological operation aimed at winning public support for the war.

The group, posing as rescue workers, helped insurgents stage chemical attacks to provide the US a pretext for military action against the Syrian government.

US funding for the White Helmets was budgeted for "supporting activities that pursue a peaceful transition to a democratic and stable Syria".

Has even one moderate rebel ever been seen by anyone?
