I don't have any specific songs in mind but I hate all music that is denigrating toward others.

As an aside, I almost died instantly when my young son said "Justin Bieber is the best singer ever.". Took me a minute to regroup from that one! LOL

Two words Yoko and Ono. I'll not post any of her songs for obvious reasons.

There is a guy on this forum that posts videos of himself playing guitar that make my ears bleed.

If I can narrow the margins of your question to, " ...worst tv-show soundtrack? " I'd cast my vote for the boringly amorphous & yet, depressing, backround sound for Chicago PD. I don't watch it, but live w/ someone who's addicted to it.

It is funny how that has changed. Only ten years ago, when I was still a teenager, Justin Bieber was not someone any boy would listen to. Or at least they would not out that in public.

Gosh. The 90's were so cringe.

It is even worse when you know the song is not about an actual Barbie doll. Lol.

In his defense, he was about 7 or 8 at the time. Still. I almost stroked out! LOL

Ironically, the two songs you like are the worst of the genre.

I think every parent throughout history has always cringed to their children's musical taste.

I persionally do not have a preference for any particular genre as I regard the genre as a non-essential and rather arbitrary attribute of any given piece. I think way too many people are closing themselves out of music they may like due to selective genre bias.

Sometimes music is more important than the lyrics and other times it is the other way around. For me, a good song is one that integrates both and ties it to an emotion. The worst of songs are those that lack all of these aspects or those that have absolutely no purpose. For example, many songs are annoying for the sake of being annoying. Some are disgusting only to disgust you. For example, most black/death metal is just awful noise where the sole purpose is to make awful noise.

Many modern pop artists are victims of the industry and today's culture because they actually do have genuine talent, but are not allowed to fully utilise it. Christina Aguilera was (is) a great singer, but her sexuality was made to be the centre of her career and in many ways this applies to Bieber too who actually does not have a bad voice.

Although she is not someone I would typically listen to, I think Taylor Swift is one contemporary pop artist who is successful in integrating music with lyrics and tying it to an emotion. She has many songs that are very genuine and personal that perfectly captures an emotion and delivers a clear message.

I consider myself "musically open-minded" as I am able to enjoy music of all genres. Even music in languages I do not understand.
