To quote Mr.Horse: "no sir, I don't like it.". But this is just more evidence of the government's schizophrenic, contradictory handling of the evil death Chinese Wuhan virus.

I was convinced by the TV that contract tracing was the cat's meow and that mucha billions would be well spent hiring contact tracers.

    Glad I am wrong.

Absolutely. I agree 100%. You did all the things we didn't do here. Good for you; congratulations. I'm happy to see a country doing it right. It is interesting how people have prejudices and assume that because your country is not as developed as ours, you must be doing a lousy job. Actually, we (Americans) are the ones doing the lousy job.

Contact tracing could have helped before we lost control. If we ever recover control and we're able to bring the rate of contagion down then contract tracing will become important and effective again. When the virus is everywhere contact tracing doesn't really help. And also, when the virus is everywhere, there are too many index cases to try to contact-trace for too few contact-tracers. Sure, we could invest a lot of money in contact tracing now, and at least it would help with unemployment, but I doubt it would make much of a difference in our situation of wide-spread community transmission.
