It would be a mistake to give Trump intelligence briefings after he leaves office! Trump is a loose cannon when it comes to classified data?!! It would be in Biden's and the countries best interest not to grant Trump this privilege?!!

Former presidents are traditionally accorded the privilege.

House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff said Sunday that President Donald Trump should be barred from daily intelligence briefings immediately — and remain cut off from briefings once President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in.

“There's no circumstance in which this president should get another intelligence briefing, not now, not in the future,” said Schiff (D-Calif.) on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” "I don't think he can be trusted with it now and in the future, he certainly can't be trusted."

Schiff’s comments come a day after Susan Gordon, Trump’s former principal deputy director of national intelligence, penned an op-ed in The Washington Post arguing that Trump must not be briefed on intelligence after Jan. 20.

Senate Intelligence Committee Member Says Trump Should Be Cut Off From Briefings

Sen. Angus King said there’s a “grave danger” of Trump revealing classified information if he receives intelligence briefings after his presidency ends.

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Sunday that President Donald Trump should be cut off from intelligence briefings after his presidency ends.

“There’s a grave danger of him inadvertently or willfully revealing classified information that would compromise sources and methods,” King told CNN. “And there is no upside. There is no reason that he needs to have this information.”

“It’s a courtesy that’s been passed on from president to president, but there is no legal requirement,” he continued. “And I think given his past history of being fast and loose with intelligence data, it ought to be ― that ought to be an easy decision for the incoming president.”

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) echoed King’s position during an appearance Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” stating that Trump “absolutely” should not continue to receive the briefings.

You mean Democrats want to punish Trump as he’s walking out the door? Say it ain’t so:) Same Democrats said Trump would start WWIII back in 2016. Said he was working for Russia too. Oh well. Same story. But I agree. I don’t think he should receive anything of real Importance. NO president should. They’re no longer president and have no power so giving them intelligence they don’t need is just putting the country at risk. Cut Trump off please. But also Obama and every else still alive.

    No, every democracy loving American.

Punishment is for children, and although Trump is a child, and he most certainly is being punished for this, the OP is about national security. Do you care about national security?

I don't care if Trump gets briefings or not after he's out.

But "Shiff" and "intelligence" should never, repeat NEVER, be used in the same sentence.

What is the reason why they give ex-Presidents these briefings? Beyond Trump, why is Clinton getting it?

Yes. Which is why rats like Obama and the Clintons are equally at risk. No former president should have any information that is detrimental to national security.

Trump ignored them while in office. I don't know why he'd read them in prison or whatever country he flees to after Wednesday. So might as well not give them to him after he leaves.

I think the reasoning is that there is a presumption that former presidents can still work for the benefit of the country. Carter, Bush Sr.,... that type of rubric. Anymore, I’m not so sure. I think Trump would put his business interests in front of the country’s. I’d rather he gets iced out.

I'd rather none of them get it - unless the current president (whether dem/republican) authorizes it

Schiff is an arrogant dick, but he's not unintelligent. He sure had Trump's number. Poor Susan. Trump didn't learn his lesson.

That's the way it's done. It's a courtesy. A formality. Until Trump, we didn't worry about it.

He has not challenged Putin on a single thing, including a Russian bounty on our soldiers.

Agreed. I don't like the guy, but he knows what he's talking about.

While Schiff was holding hearings, these idiots crashed the party.

    Remember these thugs?

I think it's a good thing, actually, in most circumstances.

I agree that Trump shouldn't have them. He's dangerous.
