Lindsay Graham, who proclaimed that the GOP cannot grow without Trump, is a fool.

It only seems like that because Trump is popular with the base. But, Trumpism is a deadend philosophy. Trump is a crass, immoral, corrupt, human being and any party with him at the core is a losing party. In fact, Trump is the most crass, most immoral. most corrupt president in history. The fact that he has promoted the 'big lie' has undermined democracy on a scale hitherto unseen in our nation in history. Therefore, he has damaged this nation like no other president in history has.

I don't know why Trumpsters cannot see it, they are mezmerized by a man whose ability to con is impressive, but that is the only thing that is impressive about Trump.

I've got a long list of things that puts this man in the dog house, but the big one is this:

Let us not forget that Trump is the guy who squelched the health care of his grand-nephew, a toddler with cerebral palsy, and Trump did it out of vengeance to spite his deceased brother's estate who are suing him because Trump cheated them out of their inheritance. The reason Trump cheated them out of their inheritance is because Trump wasn't happy with 1/5th his father's estate, he wanted 1/4th, and since is brother was deceased, while his dad was on his death bed, in an agitated state, Trump tricked his father into signing a new codicil on the will, and the new codicil cut his deceased brother ( and therefore his estate ) from his share, given the remaining the rest, and viola, Trump gets 1/4th instead of 1/5th, and the estate ( of whom Mary Trump is one ) sued. Because they sued, HE STOPPED THE HEALTH CARE TO HIS GRAND-NEPHEW, who was assured of continued health care by other family members.

You have to asked yourself, what kind of man would do that?

Only a despicable human being unworthy of the office of the presidency, or any office of public trust would do that.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/09/donald-trumps-cruel-streak/501554/

Then came the unveiling of Fred Sr.’s will, which Donald had helped draft. It divided the bulk of the inheritance, at least $20 million, among his children and their descendants, “other than my son Fred C. Trump Jr.” Freddy’s children sued, claiming that an earlier version of the will had entitled them to their father’s share of the estate, but that Donald and his siblings had used “undue influence” over their grandfather, who had dementia, to cut them out. A week later, Mr. Trump retaliated by withdrawing the medical benefits critical to his nephew’s infant child.

Why is the left so obsessed with Trump? They talk like Trump is the end of the GOP. This is from a party who lost seats in the house and only gained the senate because more GOP seats were vulnerable. Odds, are that both houses will belong to the GOP in 2023. With or without Trump the GOP will survive and thrive.

You mean working for the working class is no longer a thing for the democrat politicians who are now enthralled with ideology over success.

    Why? I'll tell you why.

The message to dems is this:

"We're gonna need a bigger boat".

In other words, the shark is still in the water.

As far as the OP goes, the answer is obvious. The Atlantic has been publishing a fairly steady amount of what amounts to Dem Porn, and the fetish is GOP Implosion. That must be a category on PornHub by now. So the OP reads one of these articles, submits to the programing by a writer who either has no knowledge of the GOP or a track record of inaccuracy (generally both) and posts his latest hair on fire talking point. It's been going on for months.

My favorite is the replay of CNN's Jeffrey Tubin's conference call. Of course, I just visit CNN for the articles, of course.

I said on another thread that the only viable way for conservatives is to form a third party. Trump is certainly a dead end. And here's the problem: the longer they take in getting rid of him, the worse this becomes. Everybody in this country who will ever support Trump already supports Trump. This is not going to get any better. Most young people are going to identify the Republican Party with Trump. So when he's not around anymore... what will be left? All these new voters who don't even remember what the GOP was before Trump. I don't see Trump drawing in a base of young people... ever. But those who do support him... support HIM. The person. Many will have no interest in supporting a Republican Party without him. On the other hand, the young people they lose today they lose forever. This is indeed a dead end for Republicans.

All of this from the party which lost seats in the house and only gained the senate because there were more vulnerable republican seats. In 2024, the republicans will select a candidate who may or may not be Trump. My guess is it will not be Trump. The other party tends to repeatedly depict the demise of the opposing party. It has not happened in the past and it is no more likely to happen in this case. Don't get your hopes up. You will just be disappointed.

You asked why the dems are 'obsessed with Trump', I just gave you the reason. "the shark is still in the water'.

    THAT is the reason.

Meanwhile at last count more than half a Dozen Dem house members and senators are looking at the numbers and retiring because they see the writing on the wall. And it looks like an overwhelming victory for the GOP.

After reading the posts above, I'm wondering why no one sees what seems obvious to me: the GOP is turning itself into the GQP in abject fear of Trump forming a third party if they don't lick his boots.

They basically had two choices: they could either retain their personal honor and the dignity that was once part of being a Republican, thereby risking their jobs, or they could retain their positions of power by publicly falling in line with Trumpism. They chose the latter.

Republicans are hoping that the Trump fanatics will get out and vote

and the Dems won't, Dems used to not get out and vote, but I think Trump woke them up too and now they are getting out to vote

republicans are playing with a double-edged sword

By that logic, as long as Ilhan Omar gets re-elected the Democrats are the Anti-Semite party.
