We need to stop awarding money to rape victims

Look, my point wasn't that rape victims should never get money. I was simply stating that if there's any possibility the victim is lying, they should not get any money.

You could still punish the man (that part is sort of besides the point in this thread), just don't give the woman money.
The man is being punished based on the woman's testimony, so that same woman shouldn't get any money.

Now, some of you might vehemently argue that a man should never be punished when it's only the woman's word against his, and that's fine, but it's completely besides the point I am trying to make here. The fact is that men do sometimes or often get punished based on only, or primarily, the testimony of the woman. So that being the case, we should not let the woman get money when the man was convicted based on her testimony.

 

Agreed. Let the money go to some cause that no particular individual can ever directly benefit from. Take the financial incentive out of false claims.

 

the rich are basically bribing victims with money to not testify in court, making them sign nda's to never tell of the bad things they have done

can you imagine if any other crime allowed the accused to bribe witnesses like that?

let the courts handle it, restitution for the victims can come during sentencing and or civil court

make NDA's illegal for covering up crimes

all NDA's should be public records
