Wouldn't say myself, or most people, fit perfectly into any one of those categories. Why did I choose liberal? It's the closest. I grew up libertarian. Half my family includes passionate republicans and the other half are apathetic liberals. The republicans were the wealthy ones, including my father, and that was why they were republican. They didn't care about faith-based issues or social issues at all really. I always cared more about social issues than economic ones, partly because I feel more certain about them, and growing up with money never had an impact on my happiness versus not having money as a student after my dad got remarried. Never saw any reason people shouldn't be allowed to do what they want to do so long as they don't harm anybody in the process. I thought of the government as wasteful and just inferior to free market solutions, until I got to college. In college I learned specifically about healthcare and education, and how free market solutions don't really work well for them. So I became more of a liberal libertarian, but in the above solutions chose liberal over libertarian.

The closest I saw is centrist as it seems conservative has changed completely and I am no longer welcome in the Republican party that once represented it. Apparently I am now a liberal RINO according to conservative Repubs and have thus been forced to choose a new label and party.

I am far from alone in this...good luck in November, You will need it.

I am proud to be a Liberal because most Liberals are very well-educated and exhibit compassion.

I have to choose Liberal. Our PM is one fine looking man and I'm sure his policies are good for some people.

I am a Nationalist Conservative Anarchist Populist with strains of small d democratic and small l libertarian and a thread of moderate progressive centrism and I really like and welcome all immigrants as long as they stay in their own country ..... Well that leaves Communist, Fascist, and Socialist for everyone else.

I really do not like anyone to try and place me in a pigeonhole. Most people tell me that they get really frustrated in trying to figure me out and that is because I do not adhere to 100% of any ideology.

I honestly believe that no one who thinks for themselves can follow ALL of the policies of any party or ideology. If you do then you can join the herd of sheep because that is about your speed. When I say you I mean I mean the general "you".

That is a question that i have never been able to answer. I leave it up to others to tell me what I am.

While back my 30 year old son called me a liberal conservative with libertarian leanings. That was interesting.

Most of the people who subscribe to the ideologies on this poll are pretty dumb…

However, progressives are the most inept ones.

I'm a classical liberal of pre-enlightenment and after of course. I have a bit from most of the ideologies listed.

Most studies actually show that it's the conservatives who are the compassionate ones, not the liberals (at least, not as compassionate or generous).

As for being well-educated; the jury is still out on that one. Equal amount of studies reveals you're both not particularly smart.

I am not a libertarian or conservative or capitalist. I am somewhat oriented towards socialism since the main objective of socialism is to reduce inequality

That's assumed by checking "liberal", just as "emotionalist" is assumed by checking "conservative" or "libertarian".

Hold on tight to that. Haven't seen a lot of compassion or generosity out of anyone on PF and the conservatives no exception. Generosity can mean other things, giving individuals and groups the benefit of the doubt is a form of generosity too.

Haven't seen much of that either...

Why do you think it is accurate to base your perception of Conservatives on people you've met on an internet forum?

The MIT study in 2012 noted that Conservatives may tend to give more in aggregate because they tend to be richer. However, Conservatives and Liberals tend to be generous in different ways, and in some nonfinancial ways (such as humanitarian charities). When accounting for this, the gap narrows.

I a 'conservative realist', which makes me ineligible for either of the two phony baloney corporate owned parties.

The question should be, why do you support the two party scam? Why do you falsely assume one party or the other is there for you?

    Agreed

I also try not to define others. It tends to skew objectivity in how you view them.

I tend to view political affiliation on the same level as religion. So many of them are blind followers. It plays into the human vulnerability of needing to belong or be a part of something.

Just making a comment about what things are like here.

Of the people I know in the outside world the conservatives give more money and the liberals give more time. Like you say it kind of washes out.

I chose Libertarian because it best fits my values. Although, Libertarian-Conservative would describe me the most. I don't care about most social or faith issues that many conservatives so desperately cling to, I focus more on foreign policy and economic issues. When it comes to a lot of social issues I tend to lean more liberal, but that's only because of my Libertarian views.

    Gay/lesbian/transgender marriage? Go for it.
Abortion? It's your choice, not mine.
Want to do drugs? You govern what goes in and out of your body, not the federal government.
Gun control? Don't even think about it.
Government surveillance? Let's end this police state.

As a trump supporter, I felt it most appropriate to vote "fascist."|
