My mother bought me QF32 by Richard De Crespigny.

It's about Qantas Flight 32 that almost crashed in Indonesia in 2010 when its number 2 engine exploded which sent hundreds of pieces of shrapnel ripping through the wing and the belly of the aircraft, severing hundreds of control wires and causing the aircraft to lose fuel. 469 people were on board.

Richard De Crespigny was the Captain.

On the back of the book it has recommendations from Neil Armstrong and Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger (that's the Hudson River pilot).

Non fiction. It's the worst incident that an A380 has had so far. When engines have a failure they don't usually explode and send shrapnel tearing through the plane.

"A Dance With Dragons" by George Martin. This is the 5th book of the Song of Ice and Fire series popularized by the HBO series "Game of Thrones".

'DUPES' by Paul Kengor. A total analysis of the CPUSA (Communist Party United States America) and how it got its roots in Chicago and N.Y.C. in 1919 at the time of the Russian Revolution. The book details how American liberals including much of Hollywood got duped into accepting communist infiltrators and their push for socialism into our government. It even details how obama's father became a card carrying member of the Communist party as well. Purely a political based book, and I'm only half way done with it.

Started reading "The Conquest of Bread" by Peter Kropotkin this past week. Should be done in a couple days (don't have as much time to read as I'd like), then I'm either movin on to Plato's "Republic" or a collection of writings from Bakunin.

Book of Revelation. You know there's a blessing if you read it and/or hear it, meaning someone reading it.

On the Road - Jack Kerouac. Funny, I started when I was about 17 with Dharma Bums and read all his other books over the years but the seminal work I only just started reading a week ago. So far I prefer his later books but we'll see how it goes.

I'm reading "America's Great Depression" by Murray N. Rothbard, copyright 1963. Very interesting, not far enough to really judge it...

The only thing I have read lately is a PDF preview of David McAfee's, "Disproving Christianity and Other Secular Writings". Which seems ok, but he says a lot of things that people already know. lol

I would like to get a new Koontz novel, or maybe re-read Flowers in the Attic one of my old favorites. I also really want to get some books on classic Greek Mythology and learn as much as possible about the myths and ancient Greek culture/beliefs/worship so that I can start working on my own novel again with a better base knowledge of the subject. But...blaaahhh, sooo lazy.

I'm about halfway through "Bedpan Commando" by June Wandry. She was an RN in WWII and quite a wonderful young woman from rural Wisconsin. I've been enjoying every word. Next I'll be reading (third time) "Serenade to the Big Bird" by Bert Stiles. It's the classic book about flying B-17s in WWII.

    What are you reading?

I mostly read science magazines and books. Read A Brief History Of Time earlier this year and a couple books by Neil Degrasse Tyson.

For fiction I am waiting for the 6th book in the Game of Thrones series, which doesn't come out till (groan) 2014.

    I've just finished reading "Shogun."

I'm going to check out "Serenade to the Big Bird." I'm a bit of a WW2 buff and I also like planes. Thank's for the tip. I need some new books. I've read all of mine a lot of times.
