My ex took every penny that I had, so I have to be frugal. I've got a 2015 Nissan Sentra. It's very comfortable and it has a satellite radio, which I love. I get 41 mpg in city driving with a gas engine! It's not a hybrid. I gave my 2013 Sentra to my son. I used to get 43 mpg in city driving with that one, also a gas engine.
It has a supercharged, 3.8-liter L67 V-6. I don't push it too hard though, usually, as it has over 100,000 miles on it...but when I do have to accelerate quickly, when entering a highway, it's definitely there for me. Only 4000 of these 2004 commemoratives were made. I love this car. It has all the bells and whistles--electric windows, sun roof, heated seats, good back support...uses Cooper tires, a bit harder to come by, but worth the wait. When my previous car developed rust in the supporting structures--which I didn't expect--this car just happened to be in the possession of a dealer I trust. He was planning to keep it for himself and had updated many little things, so all I have had to do so far is new front tires, a new oil pan gasket, and transmission servicing (fluid change and new filter). My local mechanic told me that the ice treatment that is being used on the roads around here in winter sticks to cars and cannot be rinsed off as salt can, causing increased corrosion.
So I guess you don't drive as much in winter? In Dallas, we don't have salt. We get 2-3 inches of snow per year and they only use sand. My ex-wife took everything from me. I had to sell my 1967 VW Bus. I'm thinking about getting a 1979 Datsun (Nissan) 280ZX. I've never owned an American muscle car. Maybe someday.
I've wanted a VW bus for years; finally bought a 1986 Coachmen instead, but it's really too big a vehicle for me; I wanted a smaller package and rarely use it. I have always stuck with vehicles made in the US, so the things they are deficient in don't bother me. That said, the Monte Carlo is an excellent choice as they are undervalued in the car market, and the 2004's can easily go for over 200,000 miles. Our local mechanic, who had one himself at one point, told me that. He wants another one; gave his to his own ex. I have a kid going through a divorce right now; divorces in a community property state are no fun. What a rip off.
I had to give away my '73 VW Super Beetle Convertible, Karmann Edition in order to save it. We don't have a garage & it was starting to rust a little. However, I can still drive it whenever I want because I gave it to a nephew & it now resides in a nice, dry garage very nearby. I had it since 1980 & have taken it everywhere (almost). My current car is not nearly as interesting but comfortable, fast & practical: 2011 Toyota RAV4, 6cyl.
I am using my Monte Carlo as daily driver, which is probably acceptable because it seems to have been heavily keyed by someone and possibly also has hailstone damage, going by the number of paint touch ups. It sat uncared for in someone's back yard for several years because the previous owner's widow didn't want to drive it. Congrats on protecting your Beetle. We opted to turn our carport into a sunporch...on balance a worthy trade-off, as our house is now cooler .in summer and warmer in winter.
My car is a 4WD SUV with 300,000 miles on it and a new engine, new transmission, new almost everything. Looks good too. Don't need more than one. This one will go anywhere and in any kind of weather.
2017 Challenger Hellcat and always drive with the red fob. 2007 Cadillac STS 1969 Chevy Kingswood Wagon project
2014 Kia Rio, it's been a great car so far. Kia is really improving their brand. Those new Sorento SUVS are nice. I'm disappointed in Honda, they made the new Accord butt ugly.
My neighbor has been buying Kia's for years and since he's older and another vehicle I give him garage parking and have been keeping his Kia's washed for him so I get to look them over closely with an occasional drive. I like them. He's had 2 Sedona mini vans, a Sportage (didn't like it do too being too difficult for he and the Mrs. to get in & out of), and for his 91st birthday he came home with the Sorento which he really likes although with three rows of seating, what the hell is he gonna do, take the kids to soccer practice?
That (open Spoiler below): Spoiler: A FEW PHOTOS... (Dyulino Mountain Pass) I had a dark blue G-Wagen (Geländewagen Mercedes-Benz) just before that.
i also ended up with an 'export only' to germany, it was my '78 mustang cobra II, found it at a local dealer back in 1979 that wasn't supposed to have it... fun car, but parts were hard to come by, had larger brakes, wheel bearings, heavy sway bars/bushings, wider wheels/tires, 5 speed manual trans w/5.0 litre v8, awesome machine. this is what it looked like, same color scheme, however this one is not mine...
I have a 2009 Avalanche, a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, and a 1992 Honda Goldwing converted into a trike.
