No, the meaning of life is to search the meaning of life. Look around you - it's what 99,5% of the people are doing all their life. There, theory proved.
Its the meaning of your individual life not collective human life. Thats a different question. "By declaring that man is responsible and must actualize the potential meaning of his life, I wish to stress that the true meaning of life is to be discovered in the world rather than within man or his own psyche, as though it were a closed system." "Being human always points, and is directed, to something, or someone, other than oneself—be it meaning to fulfill or another human being to encounter." "Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life; everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment.” "A man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work, will never be able to throw away his life." “It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life—daily and hourly.” “Man is capable of changing the world for the better if possible, and of changing himself for the better if necessary." Viktor Frankl
So you meant to say...What is a life with meaning? And you give a list of goals Viktor thinks would be good for humans to have.
Your life Frankl is the foundation of a life with individual meaning. As a therapist I also noticed that people with no meaning face despair and lack the resilience to over come adversity. Often people have meaning and are unaware of it. Every human act has a goal leading to an ultimate goal, teleology. Adlerian Psychology Logotherapy is a form of psychotherapy developed by Viktor Frankl that centers on the individual's search for meaning in life. It's based on the idea that the will to meaning is a primary motivational force in human beings, and finding purpose can help individuals overcome suffering and find meaning in their experiences. Logotherapy emphasizes the importance of personal freedom, responsibility, and the spiritual dimension of human existence.
Why do you need a job at all? The practical meaning of life is for an individual to prepare for his own future. We humans have a future to prepare for. That's why some governments force indivduals to join a pension plan by laws. They force you to take personal responsibility in case you don't know how to. It thus boils down that a future is! By human speculation, there's an ancient advocate that the existence of soul and a spiritual realm don't seem to lie within our spacetime. It's thus out of human capability to explore the realm. Humans science is experiment based, we don't have the ability to go outside of our own space and time to establish experiments to draw any conclusion. We however conveniently assume that, "if our science didn't yes, then it's a no", and to say that we don't need to prepare a future beyond your physical death. Human incapability is leveraged to draw such a conclusion. (as a result of human being easily fooled and manipulated by the angelic beings to trust our knowledge, that the effect of the Tree of Knowledge) How shall we prepare a future beyond death then? Since we humans don't have access to spaces and times, we need a God who have to tell us this truth and help us to prepare for it. That's what the true nature of religions. We don't have access to how life should continue or not. (i.e., God hid the Tree of Life from us humans) The big picture is prophesied in the Bible.
What does your life mean. The message in Genesis is self determination autonomy and enlightenment(meaning). God empowered us to be free not ants dependent on a Queen
Besides committing at least 20 hours a month to charity? I guess, other than that, I focus on my personal relationships. I'm always the one to speak at funerals and to spend time with folks who are at the end of their life when others ignore them. I also regularly coach business partners on emotional intelligence. You seem oddly hostile to the concept of agape for someone whom I thought proclaimed to be a Christian.
True... when we meet that Being of Light of near death experience fame it seems that many of us may be asked a question along the line of "What did you do with your life that you can show Me?" That question is often linked to a panoramic review of our lives that has been recorded on some sort of technology that is far beyond the greatest audio video recording devices available in 2025.
Hilarious. You appear to be an ant dependent on your Queen (Trump). Life may not come with a built-in meaning, but I believe we each have the power—and the responsibility—to create meaning through what we love, who we help, and what we stand for. Meaning isn’t something we’re given—it’s something we make. That’s what makes it powerful.
So, I'm mostly onboard with this "make your own meaning" thing, but one thing that has always troubled me is the way it feels like it characterizes more philosophical people as being of more worth, in a way. Does my life really have more meaning than a child who died of malnutrition before they could even contemplate these things? I think we can probably accept less-intellectual paths to meaning, and that could offer some relief here, but it is still something I struggle with.
I think the latter is just a rumored thing. I don't know if he ever actually said it. I knew it from Conan as well.
Here is an excerpt from something I wrote awhile back where this came across my stream of consciousness: Pleasure is unfulfilling when there's nothing to stave away the sadness of not being able to cry. That violent scream into silence, no one listened, everyone was deaf then, streaming their ears with content. Their brains melted and the robots took over. The comfortable giant slumbers. There's not much meaning to existing, but there is a great point to living. When do humans die? When they are no longer allowed to live. Most die long before the breath of death chills their neck.
