Do you suppose they'll lockdown Sydney, and/or NSW, next?

Stating the obvious does not matter to those in fear.

One cannot reason with a person in denial of facts.

    C'est la vie!

So we should just accept the deaths of gramma and grandpa and oh yea... the hundreds of healthcare workers and just carry on like it doesn’t matter?

Exactly. We blame them for everything.

    Ruining a once lovely city.

No really, I absolutely loved Melbs back in the nye-neez. Was already outrageously intolerant and sneerful back then, but was at least tempered by a more emphatic variety of boganism.

I liken it to a small and isolated country town. Unworldly and monocultural. Unable to comprehend that other threads in the tapestry are real and valid. Of course, when you factor in the biggest wealth divide in the country, plus the usual ills that go with being a Progressive city (homelessness, street crime, tribalism, etc), it comes off .. well, not so great really :)

I think you might be getting old and intolerant @crank.
Melbourne’s the same as before the plague.
You’ll still find bogans in Cranbourne, Broadmeadows, Footscray and near where I live.
Of course there are prosperous bogans too and you’ll find them in the inner suburbs too.

On the contrary, it's the intolerance (of Melbournian hipsters) I can't stomach. You'll have noted that was a key complaint, in my post :)

But intolerant people always think others are the intolerant ones.

Can you imagine the screams of racism in this country if such a thing was done

Or .. they see acutely limiting ideology more akin to 1950's religionism ("if you're not for jesus, you're for the devil" binary thinking).

Story time. Daughter of a friend - flaming SJW activist type from Inner West Sydney, scored dream job in some non-profit outfit in Melb. Didn't even last the first year. Said she couldn't stomach the unworldly monoculture and intolerance of the town. Happier working fast food in what she'd come to realise was a more broadminded Syd.

Yeah, she did suffer while down there ... to be sure!

She said it was wonderful to not have to be constantly concerned that your friends, boss, or colleagues might find out you mix with people from different political or social perspectives.

And yet true. Was about 4 years ago, too .. it's become even worse since (so they tell me). I find it a great shame. Such a nice city, somewhat ruined by ideologues.
