Today the question is rooted in a small Colorado town called Rifle. There is a cafe called Shooters Grill that the employees are armed with pistols. They are trained. They are law abiding. The food is said to be excellent.

Would you go there to eat? I would love to learn why you would or why not?

I would have probably said yes before watching the video. Over all I am not opposed to the idea, I just wouldn't eat at this one.

Dine is not the word I would pick for a small area cafe.

Of course I would go there to eat especially if the food happened to be good.

I would at least try the place if it was nearby as a show of support for 2nd Amendment advocates.

Gun collectors and general gun enthusiasts are like people who collect and drive antique cars. They are interested in seeing what guns/cars other people have and how their objects of interests been restored/upgraded.

The hate mail and hate phone calls they get just shows how intolerant hoplophobes are.

    What harm is being done?

When I eat someplace I want to escape the troubles of the world for a little bit. Just have some way to calm oneself down a bit, especially since my life is consumed by politics. The last thing I want to do is eat at a place that is going to be shoving its political message down my throat. We don't need guns in public like this. They're not selling points to go eat somewhere. They're tools designed to kill. We need to treat them like that.

I likely wouldn't eat there not because they wear guns, but, I likely wouldn't care for the likely extreme right wing views of the ownership, and thus would probably spend my money else where.

Provided the owners were not right wing nut jobs, and the food was good, and GUNS GUNS GUNS GUNS GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! weren't trying to be shoved in my face every second. Then sure. I would eat there.

Actually I have standards when it comes to safety and sex. No guns. If there are guns they are locked up. That's a big no no to me because of the number of women who are victims of domestic abuse because of guns.

And yeah no I'm like 90% convinced this is a kink thing. Like taking gun fetishes to a whole new level that's not at all new.

The food looks good. I just don't trust they have proper policies in place for this. When someone is carrying a weapon in a business for my protection and the protection of my family, other patrons and employees I expect a certain level of respect for the weapons, professionalism and the proper precautions taken. To start I wonder what they mean by trained? Do they mean all of the servers have had a gun safety course or were they taught how to deal with a shooter situation? Was it a short course that lasted a few hours, day, or weeks? Is it the same type of training as armed security guards or law enforcement? Have they been trained on how and when to discharge a weapon in a crowded room? How often is their training re-evaluated? Does any server ever fail this training? The fact they all use their own weapons and holsters worry me to. I would expect a business to supply the weapon and ensure they are inspected and properly maintained. There should also be proper places to store weapons and ammunition when not in use. It would be like seeing a group of security guards or law enforcement officers all wearing a mish mash of different weapons from home. Do they have policies in place, "rules of engagement", on when to draw and potentially fire the weapon. I would hope it is only for an active shooter event or maybe an armed robbery. Have these policies been drilled into the servers? What happens if some servers think it is ok to draw the weapon if there was a "dine and dash". What happens if some thinks it is ok to draw the weapon if they are being aggressively flirted with? When someone needs to rely on someone with a gun for protection in a professional capacity there has to be a level of trust. I just don't get that from the video. I think they mean well but it just seems like it is a do whatever you want type of policy at the moment so I would pass.

To be honest I would rather see one or two employees properly trained and equipped with a weapon than see all or most of the servers walking around with a gun and holster. This seem more like a gimmick than a security issue.

Also. If these servers are being used as armed security I hope their pay has been increase to reflect the extra responsibilities.

The mass killers in Colorado were careful not to enter her business. From the looks of things she does a slam bang business.

I got gun training in high school in the course I was in. I fired up to the .50 cal. machine gun in high school.

Did us all a lot of good to be trained. When I went into the Army I was already trained and was made a platoon Sgt. in basic & AIT as well.

Reason was at the time Ft. Ord was short of regular army cadre so we had to fill in for the regulars.

    ...
    What?

Yeah I actually try to minimalize my experiences with cops as much as possible. I actively fear they would harass me or ignore me if I asked for help from them. But that's moreso because of trans things than anything else.

Cops are not interested at all in those who are not committing crimes.

Yes they are. It's called inventing a crime up. It's an exercise of power over other people.
