The Friendly Atheist posts insightful videos on the issue of religion.

These 78 questions are just a small fraction of what Christians refuse to answer, offering only "it takes faith" and "God works in mysterious ways".

    Anyone care to address them?

Perhaps when there are some of the 78 questions you would like to specifically address, then I will. Otherwise I deny them all.

Is Mahatma Gandhi in 'hell'? Is Fred Phelps in 'heaven'?

If its 'gods will', then why bother praying?

Does 'god' personally speak to you? If so, if he asked you to kill your child, would you do it?

Why does 'god' create gay people, then claim its a sin?

Why does 'god' play hide and go seek with humans?

Why is jesus life so similar to other deities that came before him?

Who or what do you think is responsible for natural disasters? Who or what creates diseases?

Do you think that if you grew up in the middle east, do you think you would be a Muslim? Do you think religion is more of where you grew up, and not what the religion is? If an African Tribe came to your door and tried to speak to you about their religion, would you listen, or dismiss it as a hooky religion, because you think you know the right religion?

    No idea.
I guess it depends on what "it" is.

I don't hear voices in my head other than my own--well unless I have spent too much time down the street talking to this lady whose grating voice sometimes gets stuck there for a bit. I don't have a child so I wouldn't expect him to ever ask me to.
Don't know but it is the acts not the people that are the sin, and all people are sinners. It just depends on whether one engages in other acts that gets them salvation. i am gay; don't know why I am gay; don't care to know why I am gay; don't feel a need for people to accept that about me. It is what it is.

i don't know that he does.
Don't know. Are you that much different than someone born 100 years ago?
I guess the response would depend on what natural disaster you are talking about. That which causes an earthquake is different than that which causes a tornado.

    Don't know.

It is more likely because of one's parents not where they live necessarily, but maybe.

Wow, a whole tribe. I suppose if they were not hunting for heads or a place to stay, I would have a conversation with them the same way I do the Witnesses, the Mormons, the Baptists, the Holiness or anybody else that goes about spreading their message.

Lot of good ones....especially the "faith healing" stuff.

Do Christians ONLY use prayer if they get sick, especially with cancer? If the treatment works...do they credit God? If so....if it fails and the person is terminal, do they BLAME God?

Why can't faith healing, which supposedly can cure "terminal cancer"....ever re-grow a limb...or even a finger?

    - - - Updated - - -

    That's a LOT of "don't knows", smevins.

I can't judge that. Hitler, Stalin, my pastor who baptized me.... I can't judge that.

that depends on denomination, as I'm becoming trained in methodist ways vs Baptist, I'm learning the subtle differences about BOTH. The "once saved, always saved" vs "once saved, you can become unsaved" is big difference in answering that.

One thing that stuck with me is God is the judge, and he makes the rules... Even if it's unfair by our human standards, doesn't make it any less real to me.

I feel led.... and so far, I have not felt led to kill my son. Going back to Abraham and Iassac... I don't know how I would respond.

has a gay gene been found? If not... it seems like that pesky free will thing again....

I don't know what you are asking.... why doesn't he just show himself? Well, that's why it's defined as FAITH, and not proof.

maybe he studied them, but added charisma to the mix. Maybe other cultures stories were influenced by his....

they just happen. Let me follow up on that with a question..... is living forever really an option in this life with perpetual re-population as it is....

People have to die.... otherwise... we'd be stacked on top of each other....

    [/quote]

A great question.... do Muslims go to Heaven if they are devout Muslims never exposed to Christianity.... or do native African witch doctors go who were devout, but never exposed to Christianity....

Again... I can't answer how God Judges. With so many religions out there... all I can do is be as faithful in mine as possible. But jumping back and forth, and hoping you pick the right one at the end..... seems impossible to know until the moment my eyes close in death....

I can't see the link to ALL the questions.... but "refuse to answer" and "I don't like your answers" seem to be 2 entirely different things since every question posed seems to be answered in some way or fashion.

    can't help.

I also don't know who the 19th president is (without looking it up).... or who the last ruler of South Africa was.... or why Hitler hated Jews so much.... "not knowing" every answer doesn't mean it affects your belief system.... it just means 'you don't know'

You mean Jesus said to himself "Hey, look at the Perseus myth the Greeks have...Father God comes to a virgin, impregnates her, has a demi-god Son....he becomes a hero.......maybe I should try to claim that for myself but be more charming and 'love, peace, etc."?"

So? Do you think science doesn't have "don't knows"? My journey of faith is between me and whatever Willow Tree I fall on my knees before. If you do not want to know about it, then don't ask. If you do not want be confronted by people of faith, stop confronting people of faith. It is all very simple--you are the ones inviting the trouble that you find.

Sure you can. If you are a Christian, you should be able to judge that, based off your knowledge of scripture.

Doesn't answer the question at all: if this is all 'god's will' then why bother praying? If 'god' wants something to happen, and you pray for the opposite, what's the point? Is pray only to make YOU feel good?

If you felt 'led' to kill your own son, would you?

If you believe that homosexuality rests on a gene, then you don't understand genetics. But I will say this, in order to have free will, you need a brain to make choose right? There are over 1500 species in the world that practice homosexual behavior. Two of these (worms and crabs) lack brains to begin with. So how can a crap make a conscious choice to engage in homosexual activity if it lacks a brain to make a choice?

So I will ask again., if 'god' created homosexuality, then claim its a sin?

Yes, why doesn't he just show himself? Why play these games?

Horus <--- perhaps you should read up on Horus. He came well before jc. It seems that jc stole all of Horus's attributes.

They just happen? 'god' created the Earth right? Since he did, this leads to 2 possibilities:

1 - 'god' is not 'god'. In order for 'god' to be 'god' he has to be perfect. Perfection only begets perfection. Since the Earth is far from perfect, then 'god' cannot be 'god'.

2 - 'god' is malevolent. He specifically created diseases and natural disasters because he/she/it is evil and wish to do harm unto human beings.

    Which is it?

Sure you can....once again, you can lean on scripture to answer the question.

The question I asked were directly taken from the video the OP posted. So yes, you can 'see' (more like hear) all the questions.

Then ask better questions. There is no way for me to know what someone else's intentions are, what their relationship with God might be, or what would occur with certainty in an alternate reality.

By better questions, do you mean ones that you don't have to think about, rather you can chirp out basic answers like a Christian parakeet?

No less pedantic ones would be nice, as would more genuine responses. But since you really don't want the questions answered, I wouldn't expect you to actually be able to pose many that would be answerable because that defeats the purpose.

Actually, the questions I posted where right out of the video the OP posted.

    After all, you stated:

So I asked, and all you came up with was "I Don't Know".

So yes, a little more genuine responses from you would probably get ones from me. Or you can just be honest and say "I don't want to answer the hard questions".

By the way, I am still waiting for your answer to the one question I asked you. It is not complicated, well shouldn't be, for a man of superior intellect such as yourself. Perhaps when you are done with it, I can ask you other questions like how can the Big Bang Theory be true if the Theory of Relativity has already been disproved by science......

They are not "hard questions" but sophomoric ones. There is no way for someone to know what someone else thinks or why they do what they do.

Not one of these are 'sophpmirc' questions:

You simply cannot answer any of these honestly without saying "I don't know"

I know that according to genealogy I can trace my family tree back before the American Revolution, but without a DNA sample from a long dead British dude, I don't know that the paper trail is true since women have been known to step out. I don't know how I am going to otherwise get my membership in the DAR being a male and being purportedly a descendant of someone on the wrong side of that street brawl, but I know that if I say I should be in the DAR, then I must be right.

So "Shut up and stop asking questions that we have no answers for, because it upsets us!"

    That's a rather fragile belief-system, smevins.

Need I repeat for you how much weight I give to the opinions of someone who is anti-Semitic and thus also a racist?
