Only because law enforcement finally received a tip and chose to investigate the matter.

Background checks are already mandated for every single firearms transfer in the state of California. There is not one single legal avenue available for the acquisition of firearms within the state where a background check is not required. Explain how this individual was able to violate this restriction over five hundred times without getting caught even once.

    As opposed to....?
We will find out how he got them. Since they weren't homemade we have to assume that they were sold from a gun shop to an individual. Now once that individual has it, they can sell it to whomever they want, including felons as long as they maintain some credible deniability.

Obviously universal background checks would peel back some of that.

No but it does stop epidemics of heroin - which is what you would see if it were legal. In fact you are seeing a similar epidemic in opiates at the moment and remember Heroin IS an opiate

If gun laws did not work then other countries should have similar firearm mortality rates to America

    We dont

No, laws are for everybody, but some people don't abide by them. That's why we need cops and courts and prisons.

Are you suggesting that there should be no law against felons buying guns because they can get them illegally?

He gets arrested, goes to court, goes to jail.

    Gun Laws work.

Only after the law that prohibits felons from purchasing and possessing a firearm had failed over 500 times did he eventually get caught.

Do you understand now how the law failed over 500 times before he got caught?

Why should I be punished for exercising my 2nd Amendment right by having to show a valid photo ID and go through the NICS background check when purchasing a firearm?

And that's only at the Federal level.

In California, I also have to provide two utility bills that show proof of residency, take the hand gun safety course which cost $25, and wait 10 long days before I can take the gun home.

Yep because someone with a "clean record" can and often is simply a criminal who has not yet been caught

So you are calling for a lot more law enforcement on this issue?

    NO!

    Abolish the BATF!

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a Federal agency.

After they failed over the first 500+ times of not being caught.

    LMFAO!

    Why not?

It does not seem a huge ask

We have to go through a bloody sight more inconvenience to own a gun here and yet our gun ownership is higher than it was when the gun laws were introduced, we have nowhere near the level of firearm morbidity and mortality and the crims actually find it difficult to get guns

Then every right, including voting, should have the same requirements.

    End of story.

When guns are banned guns are as easy for criminals to get as pizza.

"Chris, a stocky but affable thirty-something South
Londoner recently retired from a career in armed robbery,
comes bounding back from the bar with a cheeky grin on
his face. 'It'll be about 20 minutes,' he says. 'Less time than
it takes to deliver a pizza and plenty of time for another
    drink. Same again?'

We are sitting behind a busy pool table in the dingy annexe of
a pub on the outskirts of Catford which, according to Chris, is
one of the easiest places in the capital to buy an illegal gun. ...

Few will be surprised that the number of illegal guns used on
the streets of London is currently at an all-time high, with at
least two shootings and four armed robberies every day since
    the start of the year...."

Correct. There were no gun laws in this nation during the first 150 years.

Now there are over 20,000 gun laws on the books and according to the alt-left we have a gun problem in the U.S.

The Golden State Killer wasn't caught for decades so I guess laws against Murder and Rape are useless.

    That's irrelevant.

The law still failed over 500 times before he got caught.
