If you have health risk you will be more at risk with either the Flu or Corona. The recovery rate for Corona is very good compared to other pandemics like Ebola or the measles so the world is not coming to the end unless your a political hack that only cares about getting a dementia patient the new President.

I do agree we've been given ever changing advice. And, as you point out it certainly does not include how important sectors of our business and population are supposed to supply.

Romney suggests that we need to give $1,000 to individual citizens. It's fine to leave grocery stores open, but that implies everyone will have enough money to buy food - which seems in question.

Seattle has blocked all evictions based on nonpayment. However, this is going to leave people owing months of back rent at a time of reduced economy/work opportunity at the end of this.

He dismantled the Epidemic Response Team and then had to set up a new one. No Democrat called him a racist for the partial travel restriction from China and it remains one of the only semi-intelligent decisions that he made early on. And his method for "telling folks not to panic" was to repeatedly lie, downplay the threat, contradict his health experts, brag about the benefits of the virus, and appoint three different folks to lead the crisis response team, including a guy whose main public health crisis claim to fame was making the HIV outbreak worse.

Corona is objectively much worse than the flu - by at least 10x, on the low end, according to Dr. Fauci. The treatments are not the same and the problems they cause are not the same. The recovery rate for Corona, while better than Ebola or other pandemics (of which there have only been a few in the last century), is little consolation to the dead or those who recovered and yet have ~20% reduced lung capacity.

And the reason that I have spent the last three weeks beating the drum of the threat that is coronavirus against people on this forum who have repeatedly said that COVID-19 is akin to Jussie Smollett (like @vman12 ) is because I recognize the increased threat this virus posed by people who did not take it seriously and are still not willing to alter their behavior.
