Are YOU ready to stop the "lock down" over Corona Virus. No / Yes and of course, why. Moi It's a virus! Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic, regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.
No. I have two children. If they were to contract the disease and die because I was too stupid to stay home, my life would not be worth living. Some you are single. I understand the want to socialize. When you are married and have a family your priorities must change. You set your ego aside and take care of those you love by keeping them safe. If that equates to staying at home a bit longer count me in.
The question is a lot more nuanced that you offer. I am ready to listen as experts begin to move us towards ending the lockdown based on criteria that will change depending on location and data, that I am not smart enough to fully digest and evaluate. I understand that mistakes have been made in this process, and sometimes there was overkill, and sometimes there was too light a hand applied. I expect that every jurisdiction will have lessons to take away, but for the most part I will follow the guidance. I work in health care and geriatric care, so my obligation to be extra careful is what your mother/ father/ spouse depends on to live where I work.
I think we can ease restrictions, allow businesses to open but everyone must wear a mask to start. Allow restaurants to open to only 30% capacity, movie theaters could cover every other row of chairs so people are separated. Something along those lines. We are in dire straits if this economy does not get back to work.
We need to follow expert advice. I’ll stay home until someone wise is able to say it’s safe to relax the restrictions.
YOU know better. Experts are "bought and paid for"! Ref.: Fauci or Sanjay Gupta psst, She's A Trained, Degreed, Retired Nurse.
I know that if someone with the virus breathes, coughs, spits or sneezes on me or if I touch something that has been coughed on, spat on or sneezed on, I’m exposed to the virus. what are you whispering for Moi?
and what experts are you going to listen to? the ones that make you feel safe? i realize that the wuhan flu has ripped asunder your carefully crafted illusions of security, but you never really were safe. potentially deadly diseases have always been surrounding you. there are hundreds of things in every home that could and do kill their residents very day. living in denial of the lethal nature of our surroundings has become the fatal flaw of modern man. safety is precisely what the herd feels right before it goes plummeting over the cliff. mankind began as a furry little critter cowering in the shadows. millennia upon millennia passed and man became an apex predator, mindful of his predatory peers but no longer the cowering beast. countless millennia pass and man has reached his pinnacle. modern man strides brazenly in the sunlight, confident that his intellect is more than a match for tooth and claw, and even dares to tread moonlit paths, still wary, but bravely willing to face that which he cannot see. are y'all beginning to see some sort of natural progression here? well, modern man has been around for a long time. long enough to start the long decline into degradation. we now only walk in the sunlight because we are surrounded by our own kind. we now cower in the shadow of the creations of greater men. we depend upon other intellects than our own to protect and provide for us. we wait patiently for experts to tell us which paths are safe. we rely on others to determine the direction of our lives. we live to breed, linger and die, all great decisions being left to experts. are y'all beginning to see some natural regression here?
This virus is harmless to most of the population We’re living in a new Fascist Communist nation Old USA is dead forever
I voted No, but that's only because there were no middle ground choices. The smart thing to do is the way that governors and Trump's federal plan will work. Gradual reopening with monitoring and increased testing. And most importantly, the willingness to dial back if infections start rising again. The on/off switch idea is just silly.
Infections WILL go on the rise again, and necessarily so. No one has ever said otherwise. The entire idea behind the lock down is not to prevent infections, but reduce the rate to the point where the heath care systems of the various states can handle the patient load. If you believe the lock-downs should continue to the point where the infection rates will not rise once released, then you believe we should never come out from under them.
and that is the reality, many businesses opening, but people staying home, that is why other businesses not opening yet my republican state never closed down, but we are closed, the people and the businesses listened to the White House and did social distancing on their own be interesting to see if it opens up tomorrow as the federal guidelines end today
The governor of each state makes the decisions in regards to lockdowns. So it sort of depends on the intelligence of your governor and his or her advisers and the economic infrastructure of each separate state. Heaven help Michigan, New York, California, Virginia, and Georgia -- each state seemingly governed by either a whacko or a rank incompetent.
I know what the point of the lockdowns are and infection rates that rise after lockdowns are eased would be counter-productive to that goal. We're in a better position now than we were at the beginning of March, but we're still behind in preparation and effectiveness. I'm okay with easing lockdowns as we get into the summer months, as long as we're willing to adapt if that doesn't work out.
Only if the number of infections exceed hospital capacities - something that did not come close to happening in the vast majority of states. At this point, people need to have the choice to resume their lives, or not - to deny them this choice stems not from some desire to preserve the public health, but a belief in intrusive government, authoritarianism, and that people are dumb animals who need to be controlled for what Leftists believe is “their own good.”
Because of the back and forth and the increasing tensions, I think that the economy should re-open. But with conditions. Those who choose to participate in the new economy signs an agreement that says they will not burden the healthcare system if they become ill. And there should be no employment consequences for those who choose to stay home. Put your health where your mouth is. As for me, I will continue to listen to the scientific/health community and take my guidance from them. I would love, more than anything, to be freed from this lockdown - but it isn't worth my life or that of my husband. Some may see this as an overreaction - which is their right - but I am of the 'better safe than sorry' school of life. And I shall continue along that path as it has served me well all these years.
Wow. -There's- a big flaming pile of poo. Did you require this of people who dared leave the safety of their homes during the lock-down? Why do you believe the state should force people to choose between their livelyhoods and their lives? Why do you believe everyone should be forced to abide by your fears?
Honestly, no - I believe the lockdown should continue. But it won't. And people are screaming to go back to work. So have at it! Head on back if you want to - just don't expect hospitals to take care of you when you are choosing to go back before scientists are suggesting it's safe. I don't know about you, but I'm sick of hearing/reading about this thing being less dangerous than reported. So for those who believe that, give them to opportunity to prove they are right!
Again: Why do you believe the state should force people to choose between their livelihoods and their lives? Given the colossal number of people believed to have the virus w/o even noticing, there's little reason to believe the picture painted by those who benefit from a collapsing economy.
Okay - I give up. I am a believer that the lockdown is important. I believe that science - not politics - should decide when to re open the economy. I believe that an early re opening will create a second wave that may surpass the initial infection. But as I said - I am sick to death of reading about how this is all a non starter. No worse than the flu. People need to build immunity. So in reaction to that, I say go ahead. For those who WANT to get out there - get out there! Prove me wrong.
