My point was that your idea is nonsensical

    No.
What was your point in saying :
"It is not yet known to what extent people who have had the disease are actually immune or for how long"
    Ok? So?

Oh geeeeezzzzz. Please! The point is- since you seem to need to be spoon fed- is that we may not achieve herd immunity and endanger others trying

    And so, we're back to:
If we're trying to develop her immunity, why not open everything back up?
And, let's say we -don't- develop immunity -- why not open every back up?

You keep focusing on "opening everything back up" Which is not what I'm talking about. You're still trying to straw man me. The issue is - which you are now desperately running from- is your moronic assertion that people should just go out and get infected, while ignoring the potential consequences. Deal with it!

not a problem, unless you have prior severe immune deficiencies or lung disease...
vast majority will not have symptoms so you'll never know...

best you keep yourselves locked within an interior room with no windows nor ventilation...

me, i carry on as usual because this pandemic is no different than any other.

what is different is the reactions to it... gov overreaching to test the 'waters'...

Since the flu kills more children every year than Covid, will you ever leave the house?

Do you ever put them in a car?

Do you have any data on health care staff without underlying conditions that have died?

The only data I can find is that 27 health care workers had died from Covid out of over 9000 infected.

I can find nothing suggesting they were "young healthly health care staff".

'More and more' young people are in ICU or dying from coronavirus, World Health Organisation warns

    Key points:
    • The WHO says people in their 30s, 40s and 50s are becoming severely ill and dying from COVID-19
    • Some have had underlying conditions, while others have not
    • Young people are being warned they are not "invincible"
    • (from the ABC news.)

    • Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR)
      Weekly / April 17, 2020 / 69(15);477–481
On April 14, 2020, this report was posted online as an MMWR Early Release.

      CDC COVID-19 Response Team

    • Summary
What is already known about this topic?

Limited information is available about COVID-19 infections among U.S. health care personnel (HCP).

What is added by this report?

Of 9,282 U.S. COVID-19 cases reported among HCP, median age was 42 years, and 73% were female, reflecting these distributions among the HCP workforce. HCP patients reported contact with COVID-19 patients in health care, household, and community settings. Most HCP patients were not hospitalized; however, severe outcomes, including death, were reported among all age groups.

What are the implications for public health practice?

It is critical to ensure the health and safety of HCP, both at work and in the community. Improving surveillance through routine reporting of occupation and industry not only benefits HCP, but all workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    This is not data.

How many without underlying conditions died? Your article doesn't even say.

It was 27 total of unknown health. Twenty seven out of at least 9300 people.

Would you like to do the math on that?

    Exactly.

So you realize that if you take those numbers to be true, and we assume that NONE of the people who died had underlying health conditions (which I know is not true), you're talking about a quarter of 1% of people who contacted Covid died from it.

They don't like publishing actual data that gives a clear picture.

They do, however, provide hints, like this piece from newsweek. Why would they include suicide?

    https://www.newsweek.com/coronaviru...rses-healthcare-workers-medical-staff-1496056

"Sadly there have been deaths among nurses there [in Italy and Spain] and in Iran and Indonesia, some nurses have died by suicide," he added.

Then you have an example of a US doctor that died. Two time cancer survivor and 60 years old. Guess what people who have had cancer have? Compromised immune systems.

The first Italian on this list of medical staff who have died was 74.

    https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/927976#vp_1

    then you have this:

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/coronavirus-italy-doctor-death-toll-gp-a9438896.html

The organisation said: “Many doctors are dying suddenly, even if their cause of death is not directly linked to the virus, because a test does not get done.”

What you have here is a list of doctors and nurses who have died DURING the Covid outbreak, and not necessarily BECAUSE of it.

Would they have died now without having contracted COVID?

I'm assuming the ones who committed suicide would have surely died with or without Covid.

    https://www.npr.org/sections/health...es-medical-industry-rethinks-how-doctors-work

An estimated 300 to 400 doctors kill themselves each year, a rate of 28 to 40 per 100,000 or more than double that of general population.

I can't find any specific information on how many medical staff die from contracting illnesses each year, but maybe I'm just tired.

It's worth noting though that Covid19 pales in comparison to the number of people killed each year in US hospitals by medical errors.

The baseline is believed to be 200,000 people each year are killed by medical errors and could be as high as double that.

    https://www.npr.org/sections/health...ny-die-from-medical-mistakes-in-u-s-hospitals

Kinda puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

They are sort of optional deaths so I agree, don’t know why they are included.
I think that’s a world wide problem. Hospitals have to be more accountable, patients are better informed and there’s a stack of money to be made by lawyers.
I will stay alert and let you know when I find reliable data on ages and health statuses of COVID related health care staff deaths.

When did I make this assertion? Cite/copy/paste, please.
And, you STILL have not answered the questions: Why -not- open everything back up?

Customers in Packed Colorado Coffee Shop Ignore Mask and Distancing Advice

"Customers in a Colorado coffee outlet on Sunday, May 10, resisted official calls for people to wear face masks and gloves – and to distance from one another – when in public.

This video shows the crowded scene inside a C&C Coffee and Kitchen store in Castle Rock on Mother’s Day morning. Few customers appear to be wearing face masks or distancing from one another to the extent suggested by federal and state officials.

Colorado Gov Jared Polis’s ‘Safer at Home’ order, which encourages six feet of distance between people, remains in effect until May 27. . . ."

Give me a break!! Are you going to tell me that you have not been pushing to reopen.?? Do you really think that you can gaslight me ?

Then you turn around and ask me , why we can't reopen, when I stated why many times in many ways. Stop with the games. I have better things to do

I asked you questions - why -not- open everything up?
    See the difference?
You've given a number of possible reasons why to not open, but you cannot explain why they mean we should not open.
    For instance:
You suggest there may be no immunity to CV-19.
Why does that mean we should remain shut down?
