"Didn't do much at all" is better than nothing... and I said for starters...

However, when that sort of weapon IS used, it's generally a mass shooting... hard not to be...

Grow up? Europe seems to be the place where you need Mommy government telling you that you can't have guns.

Two thirds of gun deaths in the United States are suicides I doubt those numbers would drop off because it's illegal to own guns.

That's the idea. It'll cost you more fighting it than what is worth that was the whole point behind the second amendment in the first place.
The assault weapons ban didn't ban any gun it only banned cosmetic features. Which isn't of any value.

It did nothing to reduce gun related death.
I doubt a bayonet lug or a collapsing stock makes a gun more deadly.

Hell, we’ve regressed to our preschool selves so give us some time to work ourselves back to adolescence (or our natural state of being).

If anything it didn't matter at all.

The pistol that it was targeted at, the tec-9 was able to be legally owned as long as it didn't have a barrel shroud. Guess what gun was used in the Columbine massacre.

You don't need a civilian version of a military weapon to kill a bunch of people in one place at one time. There's ways around it using guns that aren't "assault weapons", or by methods which have nothing to do with firearms. Besides, we don't have a gun problem, we have a people problem.

Progressives would be wise to just drop this issue. The Great Hispanic Hope, Beta O' Dourke, buried himself by trying to act like a hardass who was coming for our guns.

Dont need 150, want 150, that's a good enough reason.

Perhaps he and the porn star's lawyer can write memoirs? The creepy porn lawyer who was once considered as a possible Democratic Presidential candidate, was temporarily released from incarceration, over Corona fears. A fallen "hero". lol

No.. time for Americans to double down on their rights..

80% of America's gun violence comes from illegal gun owners in gangs.

Time to grow up and crack down on gangs...
.not really it's about 30 years past time.

Gang members who commits a violent crime? Life in prison with hard labor no parole.

Gang crime is worse than hate crimes, the numbers prove it.

We don't have a gun problem. We have a city problem. In all but our most densely populated cities, Americans enjoy being both the most well armed in the world and the safest/most peaceful in the world. These urban supermetropolises create the exception that massively skews our national numbers.

...just like they have with the Cvirus. Rural and suburban America have not experienced anything worse than a typical flu season. Its only in these same mega-urban areas that propel our violence stats upward have we experienced the 'pandemic.'

Population density doesn't just propel violence and mental illness in America, but also viral contagion, apparently. An honest initiative to make America safer would be a move to more evenly disperse our population density to reduce all of these factors. Yet no one in our political establishment has even suggested anything like that. On the contrary, they even today yet push for things like the UNs 'Agenda 2021/30/33/etc' to try to regulatorily congregate more Americans into 'smart cities' where they'll live 'more efficiently' (read: easier to coerce, surveil, restrict, deprive and subjugate).

Well, its not going to work so long as a sufficient number of us remain armed. And we will, regardless of what 'regulations' are passed.

Well ... to be fair it really is the person firing gun that kills ... not the gun itself ... at least that is what the majority of gun-toting Americans are fond of saying. But that really is the best argument against Americans (particularly) owning guns. Isn't it.

That's a rhetorical accusation if I've ever heard one.

Those numbers are a little lopsided.

Now if we figure that 60% of all U.S. gun deaths are suicide. Finding alternative ways other than firearms for suicide is extremely easy. Just look at the U.K. suicide rate.

Age-standardised rates generally fell between 1981 and 2007, with rates in subsequent years increasing to reach a peak of 11.1 deaths per 100,000 in 2013, though this was still substantially less than the rates seen in the 1980s and 1990s. The highest rate of suicide was recorded as 21.4 deaths per 100,000 population in 1988. Male suicides have consistently accounted for approximately three-quarters of all suicides in the UK since the mid-1990s.

'That sort of weapon' is almost always used for lawful activity. Theres tens of millions of them that have never even been pointed at a human. Their use in violence is statistically anomolous. Their inexplicable focus by the banners (instead of pistols: far more commonly used in violence) is yet more evidence of gun control in the US being either an illogical agenda or an agenda interested in something other than safety.
