I don't think you're serious, but what form would a "total ban on guns" look like, legislatively? I'll take a shot:

"The manufacture, sale, possession or use of firearms is hereby prohibited. The secretaries of commerece and of the interior shall enjoy full power to collect or confiscate, by force if necessary, any and all firearms wherever located within the United States."

Andc constitutionally, we could have "The Fourth Amendment is hereby repealed."

What such statistics do not reveal is the fact that approximately two thirds of all firearm-related deaths are suicide, rather than homicide. Meaning individuals are not out killing one another, they are simply killing themselves.

The nation of Japan, for comparison, has significant firearm-related restrictions, but a far higher suicide rate than the united states.

What can be done to address the core of the matter? Not the matter of the implement that is used, but the desire to use it at all? What can be done to reduce the rates of individuals wanting to end their own existence, or otherwise kill others for whatever reason they feel is a good enough excuse?

And the fallacy of banning guns, as if all the illegal gun owners (hint, those who actually use them for the violence of which you speak) are going to line up to turn in those guns..... All a gun ban would accomplish is to disarm the law abiding citizens, leaving them easy prey for the criminals. It kills me that the anti gun crowd cannot see this point.

Two problems with this poster's premise. Firstly, he has compared a country with millions of guns in the hands of the public to others that have almost none. Murders and suicides must be completed in some other way than shooting a firearm.

Secondly, he fails to mention that a very large portion of gun related deaths happen in gang warfare. Our gangs are armed. As a nation we have done a poor job of cleaning up the gangs.

As a final point, I should mention that deaths from corona viruses occur every year not just once. A quick look at the history of influenza outbreaks will clear that up.
