She has nothing. How would she "shut down the government" in a way that would stop the Senate from confirming Trump's nominee, even if she wanted to?

How, exactly, do you suppose Pelosi can do this?

Just as an aside, I'd like to point out how happy it makes me that Harry Reid is still alive to see the culmination of his handiwork.

They're all mugging for sound bites they can play for voters back home. It's likely why they ask the same damn question as the last CongressCritter.

A bullet is the great leveler. That's why an armed society is a polite society.

So you believe it is the role of a judge to legislate from the bench?

Not an attack. Just a statement about how I think or feel about your statement or about what a person that isn't a citizen of our country thinks.

I know. The hearings are for show. In the past, they didn't call the nominees in for hearings. They just voted. Taft was nominated and voted on the same day. I think that may have happened more than once.

The failure of Congress to govern created a political vacuum the courts got sucked into.

Beyond that, once we get into judicial philosophy, things get complicated. The court, from the beginning, has defined it's own role. The Founding Fathers never got around to the brass tacks of running a justice system.

So the court has always walked a tightrope between failing to resolve the issues that come before it, and exceeding the limits of what should be settled by the court.

I don't have an easy answer for you because none exists.

I will say this ANY judge trump has put up should be FORCED to exclude him or herself from ANY case steming from trump or about this coming election.

There isn't a mechanism to "FORCE" a judge to exclude herself.

Then maybe you shouldn’t make baseless commentary on the goals of others since you don't “know or care”.
I am ignoring the rest of your... rant... because I don’t care.

    Cheers

The only thing worse than Russian bots interfering in American elections is Canadian bots interfering in American elections.

Well I've seen those where they are frustrated that their agendas aren't advancing so the court becomes a legislative tool. I don't agree with this. I believe it is the role of the courts to interpret the laws as written and intended and not circumvent them to advance their own agendas.

The answer here is pretty simple--don't believe a pol who said one thing last time and another this time. Either party, either way.

We all expect the party with the legislative majority will press its advantage. There's one thing we all should consider, however--just because you can it doesn't mean you should. Two examples. Outlawing abortion in the first trimester is opposed by almost two-thirds of Americans. Saying you can't own a firearm for protection is deeply offensive to many law-abiding people. I wouldn't do either of these things because I'm pretty sure doing either one would cause no end of trouble.

I'll tell you one thing about women--telling them they have to give birth to their rapist's baby is unacceptable. You could talk until you're blue in the face and it wouldn't make any difference.

Just for kicks, what are the percentages of abortion as a result of rape?

I have long been in favor of invading Canada, annexing it and keeping the lumber but most people don't like the cold winters.

Since they likely have 300+ nuclear warheads, you'd better make sure you know where they are before you get too cute.
