I agree with a lot of your post, though I have great confidence that we will work through this. Leaders arise when they are needed, at some point sensible voices begin to assert themselves and others are drawn to them.

Here is an older article that captures another part of this that is important.

Both major parties have a sort of religious strain to them.
I mentioned one time in a discussion how much political arguments feel like religious arguments to which another replied "political arguments are religious arguments." I think there is some truth to that.

What's the difference though? Biden was clearly talking about the response of ALL personnel who responded.

Biden has no desire to close the divide. He will say he does in certain public comments, but then he goes on to attack those who disagree with him and help widen the divide.

Arnold is not presidential. He’s just a formerly failed governor.

That depends on what that politician is trying to accomplish. They may be successful at destroying our constitution and that certainly wouldn’t lead to success for the country as a whole.

Go ahead and assume. It makes no difference. You could always do some research and discover how that process works.

What conspiracy are you referring to? It looks like you're the one leaning in that direction.

Beats me. I'm familiar with how that process works though. Let's hear your conspiracy theory.

Sure, and it may well have been Pence. Even if it was Pence, that doesn't mean that the only reason he signed it, was because Trump didn't want to.

I'm trying to get my head around it. Is it quite normal for the VP to call in the National Guard?

I have no idea how many times the NG has been called up in DC. I have no idea who has done it, but I do know the procedure to do so.

Maybe someone could research that. Personally I don’t care.

It is America’s tragedy that he cannot be a President but maybe next time he should be a VP for the next republican president

And yet for all of that he leaves Trump grovelling in the dust. I am no fan of “fornicators of Nannies” but that video was honest and I have heard him before declare he believes that those who are public officials serve the people

Yeah! But when he was talking about tempering steel and you heard the high pitched clink as he put it down I could not help but think it is in all probability a tinfoil make believe movie prop:p. Still it represents an idea and like a mask

Actually maybe not. This was a long time ago but I thought I saw a making of type of clip, maybe on the DVD or Blueray, that said the Conan sword was made by a master sword maker. I think the maker said it could cut through an engine block.

EDIT: Did a quick google and this is what I found:

I assume that you meant to say you do NOT know the procedure.

If you define "religion" more broadly, as a belief that cannot be challenged, then I agree.

I definitely see people who treat climate change as some sort of religion that cannot be challenged. This belief can lead to unrealistic policy proposals that are not founded in science.

The whole issue of carbon capture, for example, is annoying to me. Scientifically speaking, part of the reason why fossil fuels are a good energy source is because of the entropy gain when CO2 is released as a gas. Recapturing this CO2 requires work (energy) to reduce entropy, thus negating part of the benefit of burning the fossil fuel in the first place.

Therefore, instead of carbon capture as a policy, the much better policy would be to use energy sources other than fossil fuels.
