An associate of Rudy Giuliani told a former CIA officer a presidential pardon was “going to cost $2m”, the New York Times reported on Sunday in the latest bombshell to break across the last, chaotic days of Donald Trump’s presidency. The report detailed widespread and in some cases lucrative lobbying involving people seeking a pardon as Trump’s time in office winds down. The 45th president, impeached twice, will leave power on Wednesday with the inauguration of Joe Biden. The former CIA officer John Kiriakou, who was jailed in 2012 for leaking the identity of an operative involved in torture, told the Times he laughed at the remark from the associate of Giuliani, the former New York mayor who as Trump’s personal attorney is reportedly a possible pardon recipient himself. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/17/rudy-giuliani-associate-john-kiriakou-trump-pardon __________________________________ I really want a broad investigation into Trump, his family and his assiciates to be launched on Day 1 of the Biden Presidency. In addition to the pardons that Trump will grant shortly before the end of his apocalyptic term, what we will discover in terms of corruption will have no parallel in the history of this country. Thoughts ?
I do believe that lobbying for a pardon is illegal. So paying someone to lobby for a pardon is not illegal,
This being the most corrupt administration in US history it may tale 10 years to uncover all the crimes pertpetrated by the Trump crime family.
See how long that myth holds up when hes gone and we've got nothing but the impact of a Biden Presidency to deal with. Believe it or not, like it or not, right up until COVID life was good in America under Pres Trump. People had jobs, more disposable income, less debt, lots of time to sit around looking for things to get butthurt over. Lets see how things go after a few years of Pres Biden. Higher gas prices hitting this summer ($4/gal new norm), his the radical far-left that controls his strings green tech and healthcare initiatives slated to put a few hundred thousand out of work literally overnight, open borders and amnesty for all will risking millions more, the inflation that has been stalled thanks to favorable trade deals will now snap back hard, expiration of tariffs, the end of energy independence, Chinese dominion, taxes taxes taxes taxes, I mean holy crap friend, you ready for this? See if the state controlled media can still sell TDS when all that sets in.
I can see it now, every time Beijing Biden blunders there will be a story about Trump to distract us.
Makes sense. Trump is cash strapped and can't get credit at his bank. He also is probably looking at some kind of divorce payout within the year, impeachment charges he can't deflect, other charges in NY and nobody seems to want to take his case(s). All he has to do is keep the money coming in from anywhere and anyhow.
He absolutely can deflect them, he can straight up ignore them. The Senate has absolutely no jurisdiction to compel private citizen Donald Trump to endure their trial. The Constitution specifically designates who shall be subject to impeachment by Congress and former Presidents are simply not defined or included. Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
In the late 1900 ' s anti worker gebonees said that giving workers weekends off and vacations was going to destroy manufacturing and destroy the morality of our country. When women got the vote and when US Senators started to be directly elected by We The People gebonees said it would be the end of civilization. In the 1930's ChickenSchiest sky is falling people said that Social Security and bank regulation and unemployment insurance will destroy our country. In the late 1940's when Truman desegregated the military gebonees said it would destroy our country. In the 1960's when civil right was enacted gebonees said it would destroy our society. Now you say that Biden will destroy the country.... BULLSCHIEST,
Serious question: Can the President give someone a pardon for something they have not been charged for, or for something they may do ?
Answer: yes The right of pardon is so broad that Trump could technically protect all of his children from federal prosecution for a period of 10 years. Of course, this kind of excess has never been tested in a court of law.
So things were good until literally the first adversity he faced lol Then he **** the bed and let 400k
I agree if only to prevent this disaster of a President to not continue to poison the well and further inflame his followers into insurrectionist actions ... trump's cult will continue to lean on his every word, so in essence, he still has some power ... mmm hmmm ... you guys are still bringing up Hillary for Christ's sake ... the new Camelot ...
We don't bring up Clinton to distract attention away from Trump, we bring up Clinton because Clinton brings up Clinton.
Whether or not paying someone to lobby Trump for a pardon is legal depends on the promises made by the lobbyist. If it was presented as a sure and certain result for the demanded price, that is a crime. If the demand for a payment went all the way to Trump, that is again a crime.
Pres Obama had a conscious willingness to pander to and be influenced by the radical far-left. Pres Biden will outright be their tool and its entirely likely he wont realize it. So to answer the question, no I don't think it will be more Obama-esque policies - it will be far worse.
COVID was the first adversity? Did you really just say that? There was almost daily nation wide rioting beginning on election night and lasting through January. The Russian Hoax was launched the day after he won. He was spied on by every 3-letter agency in the book. He had a half trillion dollar a year media enterprise contributing countless millions of man-hours of work to tear him down at every turn. He had activists judges shutting down every initiative he tried to undertake with no semblance of Constitutional requisite. Yea, Pres Trump and the GOP fumbled COVID in a most devastatingly spectacular way. But you know darn well this wasn't the first adversity he had to deal with.
Things will cost more, jobs in general will net less take home pay and they'll be fewer of them. Your list was nice you get points for the effort, but I didn't suggest the country would be destroyed I just mocked the notion that people are going to be giving a damn about Pres Trump throughout the entirety of Pres Biden's term. We're not headed into a golden era of prosperity, we're in the staging phase of a radical transformation and there is simply no way America can be remade without being deconstructed a little first. How bad things get depends entirely on the fortitude of the moderates in the DNC. Amnesty, open borders, PR/DC statehood, court packing, ending the filibuster, expanding mail-in voting, medicare for all, and so on - each time the moderates cave to radicals the consequences will be magnified. So if the state controlled media thinks they can provide cover for each Biden Administration failure on the horizon by breaking some Trump tidbit, well, they should ask Fox how well it goes over each time they remind us that Hillary Clinton still exists.
Australian Media are reporting that Trump has given Steve Bannon a pardon........that was about funds for the Mexican Wall.
I believe that's a yes. Ford did it to Nixon, I think, since Nixon had been an "unindicted co-conspirator" It can't be for something they MAY do, however. Telling a guy beforehand he can go and do some heinous crime is a little much even for the American President.
This wouldn't surprise me if true as Trump has always been about serving himself and never about upholding the integrity of office. Almost 90% of people pardoned have some political or financial connection to Trump. The RW media would be losing their minds if Obama had a fraction of those. With Trump, corruption has become commonplace that we are simply numb to it now.
