Ahh...moving the goal posts. That's an interesting game too. When did the US Congress strike a "deal" with social media so they would delete conservative content in exchange for not changing existing laws? Answer: Never happened. If you got your way, social media like Parler could and would be sued for comments made on their apps by other people. Anyone could go there and post child porn, and then sit back and watch Parler take the heat for it. You also want the government to dictate who private businesses can and cannot do business with. You might as well admit that you want the government to run these things, which makes you a raving socialist.
Apparently a ruling has been made. Amazon has no obligation to host Parler. Judge Refuses To Reinstate Parler After Amazon Shut It Down https://www.npr.org/2021/01/21/956486352/judge-refuses-to-reinstate-parler-after-amazon-shut-it-down A federal judge has refused to restore the social media site Parler after Amazon kicked the company off of its Web-hosting services over content seen as inciting violence. The decision is a blow to Parler, an upstart that has won over Trump loyalists for its relatively hands-off approach to moderating content. The company sued Amazon over its ban, demanding reinstatement. U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein sided with Amazon, which argued that Parler would not take down posts threatening public safety even in the wake of the attack on the U.S. Capitol and that it is within Amazon's rights to punish the company over its refusal.
Without a House majority, 60 votes in the Senate, and the Presidency (or enough votes to override a Presidential veto) the Right cannot do anything.
Are you actually suggesting that antifa scum didn't use Twitter and Facebook to organise riots and looting in the summer?
Well let's see how this alternative works out. We know Trump wants to Tweet. We know millions want to listen. It's not like we aren't aware of a major demand not being met by the market. We will see if the current system allows that demand to be met.
They used both Twitter and Facebook. They both have shown these postings to the feds as part of an investigation.
It’s disturbing that it is now allowable for the left to ensure the conservative point of view can legally be silenced. Book bans are next.
Its disturbing that things like child porn and plotting violence now 'conservative point of view', and that is an argument made by conservatives themselves. I lean conservative in most issues but will NEVER become an apologist for this kind of nonsense. I think the spell will wear off soon and people will return back to reality where some things are not defended/justified just because a member of your tribe is doing it. Some things are condemnable no matter who does it.
Why would I need to do that, when you agree with me that antifa scum used Twitter and Facebook to organise riots and looting in the summer.
Post the posts organizing riots and looting by them. That's what I was objecting to. They should still be available
You don't object, as you have already said that you agree with me that antifa scum used Twitter and Facebook to organise riots and looting in the summer. Why would they still be available?
