It may be more primitive but it used to be that the auto industry didn't even make electric vehicles. They were suppressed. All that changed in recent years. So, now that EVs are a thing, I expect the technology to improve over the years.
Actually, EV's predated internal combustion vehicles by several decades. And during the period 1900-1912 EV's were one third of all vehicles on the road. They lost out to a superior technology. Sooooo....... Has there been no improvement in battery technology since then? What about the impact of “super magnets” on EV development https://www.theguardian.com/environ...harged-in-10-minutes-in-future-finds-research
I actually know that electric cars were invented that long ago, but are you comparing very old cars to those we have today? Compare any mass-produced vehicle, electric or not, from today vs the turn of the 20th-century car, and you will see a vast improvement. There is no comparison.
I plan to build a new home next year and will have solar power. With free electricity (at least paid for), I may get an EV to cut down on fuel costs and maintenance. The EV will be in 4-5 years after the house is built and I am settled in my energy production. You have to have perfect conditions for EV to do you any good. Charging stations, no long commutes or road trips, and the vehicle also has to suit your needs.
One of the funny things is a picture of a Tesla charging station with a diesel generator behind it providing the electricity.
Nope. The wonders you claim have yet to be seen. If it were possible to drive 200-300 miles in an EV, pull into a charging station, recharge in 5-10 minutes and go on my way for another 200-300 miles then you might have something.
EV isn’t the only option. Many countries are outright banning new production and importation of ICE vehicles. So again, It is fascinating seeing the people denying the non-ice vehicles will eventually be the norm.
Many cities around the world have banned diesel trucks within the cities themselves and it is THESE countries that are going to run head first toward EV
Only in restricted areas where a VERY limited range is required and has nothing to do with what I posted. Everyone who as downtown that day driving around trying to find a place to park were burning fuel they wouldn't have to were all the empty parking places not restricted to the no where to be found electric vehicles. How does that help the environment?
As I noted there was nothing environmentally friendly about it in fact it was NOT environmentally friendly at all since all the ICE vehicles had to keep cruising around at low speed, the least efficient way to operate an ICE, and the electricity being generated for those charging stations come from a coal powered steam plant.
The EV is less capable, less versatile and less powerful. Performance is severely degraded by weather. It's not close without your ideological blinders.
