Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said the exorbitant fee for the 8m by 3m facility could have been spent on vital infrastructure or alleviating the town’s chronic unemployment.

“In a town where a three bedroom house can be bought for under $120,000, there is no justification for charging more than five times that amount for a building a fraction of the size,” he said.

And despite getting a large amount of funding from the unions they are still an independent organisation, a number of their campaigns are being run in opposition to current Labor government policies.
