You and I have absolutely no idea how many cases are active in this country. It may be hundreds or thousands so working off moving numbers is silly.
I strongly suspect from your previous posts you are leaning toward making this political. I say that because you were one of the most active during Mueller, Russia, Russia, Russia, the Kavanaugh hearings, and lord knows how many other "hearing" you authored posts and monitored minute by minute.
The Chinese Flu, is a big deal. It will be responsible for deaths. So do drivers on their cell phones, gangbangers, medical errors which are the third leading cause of death in America, slips and falls, and suicides.
I am treating this just like the H1N1 Flu epidemic of ten years ago and the other dozen variants that preceded that version.
Maybe more deserving of your attention is the 800,000 kids that go missing in the US every year. Now that's a number I hear and sit up and pay attention.

You forgot the "Justice for Jussie" campaign.

This also explains their unjustifiable fear of firearms it seems.

Tornadoes have killed over twice what corona did this week in America. Bad crap happens.
Be careful and aware and then live life.

I'm going to downtown Houston in 2 days to run a 5k. 1000s of people who are breathing hard and sweating in a small area. Some risk in inherent in that right now, but my odds of injury or death are higher from driving there or dropping of a heart attack during it. Not going to stop living because of a small risk of infection and an even smaller risk of death. I can catch up on my reading if I get it :)

It's times like this that I wish I was asian so I could take the day off work and spend it riding elevators, coughing occasionally.

Hammers kill more people than ARs, yet, we are trying to ban one and not the other.

But again, the real story isnt the mortality rate... it's the hospitalization rate.

And when half the country is infected and 20% of those people are hospitalized, then maybe you'll begin to understand why this isn't the flu.

Work with a Korean guy, oh man the crap he takes from us daily :)

edit: Just got a text of a picture of him, from someone saying they will not be at work because of him giving them Corona.... too funny.

He is a great great guy, taking it all in stride.

    Let's just make up numbers!

160 million infected...that is what you posted.

17,000 world wide right now...and you saying America will have 9,400 times that many cases?

Oh I'm all for more manufacturing here. There's a recycled papermill I call on and about ten years ago they were complaining how China was buying all paper here to be recycled, shipping in back to China making the brown paper stock used for boxes, shipping that back over here and selling for less than they could make it.

32m cases of flu last year in the US.

This virus is 3x-6x more easily transmittable.

At 5x, that's 160m cases of the virus IF WE'RE LUCKY.

20% of those will require hospitalization.

And this will all unfold over the next two months.

So yes, that is what I am saying.

Austin is about to turn into a petri dish this month. The mayor wants the money from 500,000 international tourists (mainly west coast) who converge on the city for 10 days every March more than he cares about the health of citizens and tourists. I expect Austin will be importing the virus here (and/or there are already a few local undiagnosed cases) and then exporting exponential cases back out from the city to the world when the tourists go home with their "souvenirs".

I heard they've sent the first sample from an Austin resident off to the lab for testing today.

    That's too bad :(

I know Austin wants to "Keep Austin Weird" but perhaps they are going too far.

Houston will get hit with infections with the international aspect of the city and the port.

Your nuts. Why the drastically lower numbers across the globe then? The rate at which you say this will infect the we would have 160,000,000 case across the globe, we have 17,000. That's 0.00010% of your prediction.

We only have as many confirmed cases as people tested. Can't have a confirmed case if you're never tested.

There are right now probably hundreds in the US already with the virus. You'll see here in a week or two once the symptoms start to appear.

    Only old people.

    Just the flu.

Also, not sure why you keep saying 17,000, but you've said it twice now.

There are 95,382 confirmed cases worldwide, including 3,285 fatalities.

He is a) Including cases of infection where the individual has not been identified and b) Discussing the rate of expansion into the future.

Also, not sure where you got the 17k globally number. It is almost at 100k known.

That also happened at a big box store where I live. People were also stocking up on cases of bottled water. They imposed a 5 case limit.

Does anyone know what the test consists of? Is it multiple choice, fill in the blanks, a riddle, or an essay? I haven't heard any of the talking heads say what the test is.
