Now imagine if we have a 100% mail-in election in November and 21% of the ballots are rejected. Would anyone accept the results? "The mail-in ballots of more than 84,000 New York City Democrats who sought to vote in the presidential primary were disqualified, according to new figures released by the Board of Elections. The city BOE received 403,103 mail-in ballots for the June 23 Democratic presidential primary. But the certified results released Wednesday revealed that only 318,995 mail-in ballots were counted. That means 84,108 ballots were not counted or invalidated — 21 percent of the total." https://nypost.com/2020/08/05/84000-mail-in-ballots-disqualified-in-nyc-primary-election/ And it took from June 23rd to August 7th to count them. That could mean Dec. 22nd before they are all counted after the vote in November. The Electoral College is supposed to meet. That leaves only 8 days to contest the results. Florida 2000 took a month.
Mail-in ballots are anti-democratic. More proof that the Democratic Party is the Anti-Democratic Party.
It just goes to show that 21% of people can't follow directions. But that means 79% can follow directions. I suppose that sending a letter to the return address would help, but maybe they won't understand it.
And of course New York is the state all other states are supposed to look to as the epideme of how to do things.........
21% are democrats, and any bet that the majority were young and minority populations who were part of the 21%?
If you're going to encourage mail-in voting, this is obviously not the best way to go about it. It indicates that things are being rushed. I wonder if people whose ballots were rejected are at least notified, so that they are aware and can get their votes in another way. That is the important thing for them now. Of course, it would help immensely to have better coordination rather than a hostile White House administration that is only interested in undermining mail-in voting.
You know how long it took CO to get their mail in voting system up and running to be the USs premier voting system? 10 years. Now everyone is supposed to get it done in less than 90 days because of a virus that is less than .1% deadly?
Are you saying we can't do it? Don't you believe in America? What a sad spectacle this nation has become, now bickering over mail-in voting in the midst of a pandemic, and all because of a con man who got elected to the nation's highest office with foreign assistance.
No, cause when it comes down to it, there is still things America CAN'T do. So, you still believe in this lie? Or are you saying Obama/biden was so inept in keeping our nation secure that they allowed a foreign nation to interfere in our election? Doesn't seem like there was any foreign interference in 2018 while Trump was POTUS. If you think mail in ballots will be more secure under Trump than in-person voting was under Obama/Biden, kind of works against you though.
There is a learning curve. That is well known, we have states that have everybody doing mail in. But that also costs money, and the virus is killing city and state budgets. If Republicans actually gave a sh*t, they cough up the money needed to actually have an election that isn't totally screwed up. But that's not what they want, and all of you know why.
This crowd also has to deal with various constitutional issues in many States, as many State Constitutions do not currently allow for it in one way or another, even a State that has been doing it for a while such as Washington State. The SOTC cannot constitutionally do it as well, but it's been a long time now since they've followed their constitution. In my State of Wisconsin, for example, the State Constitution specifically requires that all votes be by secret ballot, that photo ID be presented, and that one goes to a polling place during specific hours (unless voting absentee, which also requires that a photo-ID be on file before receiving an absentee ballot). Mass mail-in voting is simply not allowed under our State Constitution (and the Constitutions of many other States, including some States like Washington which have been doing it for a while now).
I think democrats are trying to rush this so that when Biden loses, they have something to cry about, even though it was them who cried for it to begin with.
NOT BS... look at the State Constitutions of most States... most States do not allow for mass mail-in voting. My State of Wisconsin is one such State.
Forcing it on states that don't already have a system in place for it is going to cause a much bigger clusterf*** than social distancing in lines at the polling stations.
I disagree. A Massive in-person Election (during a pandemic) is a complete non-starter. So, there are only 2 realistic options: 1) The States move at "warp speed" to facilitate mail-in voting. 2) No Federal Election and the Dems take over after terms expire in January. Tl;Dr--A Massive on-screen Election AIN'T Happenin'...
False Equivalence. Absentee voting is NOT mass mail-in voting. My State of Wisconsin, for example, allows for no-excuse absentee voting. A Wisconsinite, to receive an absentee ballot, still needs to be a registered voter, still needs to have photo-ID on file, and etc... Mass mail-in voting involves automatically sending out ballots to people even though they aren't registered voters, and even though they never requested one (and even cats and dead people and such have been found to "be on the receiving end" of such ballots). Clearly you don't know the difference between absentee voting and mass mail-in voting...
There does not need to be a vote by the citizens in order to have a President elected by the States in place January 20th.
