I think that is a fair assessment of the situation.

I doubt that is correct. It seems to me that the U.S. has got the UN bent over forward and has been getting away with murder - literally - so when Russia gives the U.S. pay back it's much too embarrassing for the UN to lodge a complaint because they'd have to explain why the U.S. got off scot-free for doing the same thing. So, "within international law"? Naw. I think it's more like subliminal blackmail.

Oh, that's what you mean. Yes.

I am convinced of it. It was obvious that Hitlery C. wanted war and Donny stopped her efforts in its tracks. But now that the Military-Industrial Complex butt-kisser Biden is soiling the White House bed-sheets you can be sure war is just around the corner. If any decent American (who has sons) is reading this I suggest you leave the country as soon as the pandemic flight ban is lifted. Or just move to Mexico until the smoke clears.

Typical moronic response. Have you ever heard of the term "knowledge"? Do you know what it means? It means knowing the truth about something/anything. Do you know what "teaching" means? It means to inform others about something/anything based upon knowledge rather than lies. I am aware that Ted Bundy sent his mother lots of flowers every Mother's Day. That is "knowledge". Now that I've just told you that I guess it means that I am defending him, huh? What kind of world do you live in?

Did not all the kids. It was over 5,000 protester arrested since the protesting started over the illegal imprisonment of a Putin political rival.

Trump wins election --> Dems: "He only won because of foreign meddling! It's unfair! IMPEACH! Herp-de-derp!"
Navalny exists and wants to be able to run in Russian elections: Putinists, Silovokis and Silovik apologists: "He is an agent of foreign meddling!. THROW HIM IN PRISON! Herp-de-derp!"

Maybe, just maybe, there are people everywhere in the world who prefer having CHOICES in their daily and political life, rather than just a rotten de facto one-party (or two-party in the US) system. Putin, probably for personal and historical reasons, otoh, associates people protesting and having choices with rebellion and the breakdown of society (since he saw the breakdown of the old Soviet system from within). So, people like himself come to associate true freedom (having more choices) with chaos and anarchy. And so they limit what things "his" people can be allowed to choose.

And "Jeanette": Putin and his chekists or "siloviks" are the excat definition of a "Deep State". The Russian government and government system is quite litterally run by a neo-aristocratic class of former and present members of leaders of the Russian intelligence services.

Or knows it will displease his mafia bosses. I'm sorry but decent prime ministers and presidents do not send KGB agents with deadly nerve agents or radioactive material into other countries to kill off their opposition.

The reason Putin is finally losing power is because business will no longer trade with him. Despite the huge amounts of money to be made from Russia's gas reserves, too many have found themselves forced to give up those profits or face trumped up tax fraud charges and imprisonment.
The trouble with greed is that its never satiated.

So you say, but that's not what those who were there say.

Oh no, don't tell me Kremlin isn't run by oligarchs, it's run by spies? WOW! (I'm Just joking)

When the sanctions started with Crimea and its annexation - which happened to be within international law because of the Hague's vote on Kosovo, Putin said he would retaliate to each sanction with equal measure so he could stay within the law. So, even though the UN bows to its own monetary interests, he does believe that keeping the UN relevant is to Russia's interest.

As for how long that will continue, who knows? The situation with Russia is becoming more and more dire with each passing day.

Do you people have any idea of what's going on, or do you just write anything that comes to your mind? Russia supplies gas to China as well as Germany and the EU. Also thanks to the American sanctions, which forced Russia to embargo EU goods, they are now self sufficient in everything - including food. Putin said that's why the shelves in the Russian stores didn't empty out during the epidemic.

    Smart.
But it must be aggravating knowing that the U.S. is giving the United Nations the finger and getting away with murder.

I wonder. Let's keep Putin's rook within our peripheral vision at all times. He'll dazzle you with the other pieces and when you think you know his game the rook will bounce in out of nowhere and maul his opponent.

Really. So what's happening to the Russian economy? It shrunk by 8% in the 2nd Qtr of 2020 and another 4% in the 3rd Qtr. Its over reliance on gas sales is crippling it and Putins seizing of production from international companies that developed those supplies has soured Russia's trade relations, so now they stand alone (as you state) though self sufficient is very different to successful.
Putins palace 1.7million views and growing.

By ignoring Turkey's actions, and not wanting to do anything to alienate them. But Poland's nuts anyway. They believe that Russia had something to do with the plane crash in Russia carrying its president and other dignitaries, at a time when Putin wanted to better relations with Poland. Shouldn't they be looking at those who would not want Poland to better relations with Russia?

    As they say: Cui Bono?

Putin's preference was not Russia's economic growth and the risks that came with it, but to establish the economic security of the Russian Federation - which they now have. Russia has no debt.

Navalny's dreaming and is going to end up on the other side of a bullet like Boris Nemtsov did, when his handlers decided he was of more use to them dead because of the propaganda value than alive. I think the safest place Navalny could be right now, is in a Moscow prison. A charge of treason might just save his life.

Here's all the proof Russia's needs about Navalny and his connection with Britain's MI6:

    in your link
"On Sunday, police detained more than 4,500 people at protests in cities nationwide, according to OVD-Info, a group that monitors political arrests, surpassing some 4,000 detentions at the demonstrations across Russia on Jan. 23."

Most are underage, so detaining them doesn't mean charging them. Anyway I wouldn't believe too much of what comes out of a politically motivated site.

Bidjo & Flyboy 56: Now how about something from RT, which is not a Western site or a Western liberal Russian site. (They exist you know?)

"...Two narratives are currently competing for attention. The first is that Navalny is the innocent victim of a brutal murder attempt by the Russian government. The second is that Navalny is an agent of foreign powers.

For some good reasons, the first narrative has won the day in the West. But ultimately, what matters is which wins the day among the Russian people. And in that regard, narrative number two seems to be doing better. This most recent revelation (in the video posted above) will probably make it do even better still..."
