Add 3rd to that. If you're so law abiding, why not house a cop for free!?!?!?!? WHAT ARE YOU HIDING IN THERE!?!?!?!?!??!

That would require changing the law, not executive fiat.

    And yes, it should be.

    Right.

I keep two fire extinguishers, one in the kitchen and one on the basement stairs, in case of fire. Similarly, I keep two firearms. One someplace in an undisclosed household location and one in my pocket, in case of fire.

Of course there will be some tweaking, but the technology was designed 6 years ago.

Fire extinguishers are great for unarmed self defense. Blast them with the CO2 or powder, then beat them with the steel cylinder.

The technology was designed long before that. Fingerprint reading isn't 6 years old dude.

The issue is that the tech either 1) doesn't work when needed because the tolerances are too tight or 2) will work for non-users because the tolerances are too loose.
Too tight and it rejects on anything but a perfect read. Too loose and it basically doesn't stop ****.
There really isn't a happy medium that has been discovered, certainly not one that is cheap and fits on a pistol.

I don't know much, but I have never seen or heard of an electrical mechanical lock that could not be defeated mechanically.

Like if you jam a tooth pick in the firing pin against the bolt, then pull the bolt carrier back 3/4 stroke, let go, and let it slam fire. That would totally bypass a trigger or hammer lock mechanical or electrical.

It's like trying to lock a house- you still got windows.

O I'm talking about the reader reading a non user and saying "close enough for government work" and unlocking.
Or not unlocking when a registered user does a read because the read wasn't perfect.

Finger prints are unique, sort of, but they are VERY SIMILAR in pattern. Enough so there are archetypes to compare against from back in the day when they did it by the old mark one eyeball.
If you loosen the tolerances to account for a bad read, you cut off part of the print. Meaning anyone who shares some characteristics with you will count, and there are ALOT of people with similar patterns.

the DEA manages that, Congress gave up the right as they did not want to do the same as they did with Alcohol prohibition

creating the DEA allowed the gov to ban drugs without an act of Congress via scheduling them

dog causing a gun to go off -well in tort law the issue really comes down to odds and whether the harm is something that a normal person would foresee. For example if you mail a package and through negligence it gets lost can you sue for loss of life because the package contained an experimental drug that might have save the recipient? Most likely not. On the other hand if you tell the post office and insure it-that's a different matter. Now having a loaded rifle in a vehicle is stupid. and there is civil liability. But that's a far lesser "violation" than say shooting around a heavily populated area and claiming you didn't mean to hit someone.

sure sure. Just claim your guns just happen to be stolen without your home being wrecked etc etc etc.
Good story. You'll get tossed in jail for aiding criminals as well as committing insurance fraud.

How would insurance be involved? Someone reports that their guns are missing. End of story.

I'm not proposing it. My original post on the subject was making the point that a smart holster prototype had been developed, but the anti-gunners opposed it because it didn't have anything to do with banning guns.

I don't care how old it is, if it works, or if you like it. Supporting the idea was never my intention.

That sounds like a hobby of a lawful citizen who will hand over the guns, if found, to the cops. And than the proces begins of guns being registered and tracing it all back.

I don't see a serial number on any of my barrels. Why?

    Nobody can say.

Oh wait! I need to amend my answer. It will facilitate gun confiscation.
