Maine’s top election official ejected former President Donald Trump from the state’s ballot on Thursday, declaring him ineligible to serve as president because of his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on Congress.

The ruling by Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, a Democrat, is certain to inflame a roaring national debate over whether the Republican presidential frontrunner should be allowed to hold power again.
    https://www.politico.com/news/2023/12/28/maine-kicks-trump-off-ballot-under-14th-amendment-00133294

And here comes the idiocy everyone was talking about. This isn't from a Maine court. This isn't from their Supreme court. This is an election official deciding who can be on the ballot based on their own accusation.

So I think any state who decides not to abide by the Constitution, should be eliminated from participating in any federal election. Lets start eliminating these idiotic utopias and see how fast this turns around.

Most know it was a bad idea to rile up a mob to go to the Capitol and fight like hell to take back their country.
What good was to come of that?

    Other than threatening our democracy.

Even 3 Colorado Supreme Court justices disagree with her.

I disagree with this ruling. It shouldn't be up to individual election officials to decide this. It should be up to the courts. My guess: It will end up in the courts anyway because Trump will challenge. In any case, this kind of activism is giving Dems a bad name.

No judge or justice can remove anyone from a ballot without a conviction.
This is just more unconstitutional desperation

So you think an election official removing candidates from ballots is constitutional?
    That explains it

Its evident in all the testimony that has been given Trump did not upheld his oath to protect the constitution

In denying Trump from being on the ballot it shows no one is above the Law

To this day Trump is still spewing Lies that he did not lose the 2020 election

All across our nation these Election deniers have lost their re-elections

Hopefully the GOP will run someone who puts the constitution above their personal gain

Why doesn't Biden simply cancel all elections like his BFF Zelensky did?

What it shows is how Democrats are willing to use unconstitutional methods to get anything they want.

Like the election deniers from 2016 who tried to remove electors, ran adds for electors to illegally change their votes, started impeachments the day he took office, like falsifying claims of Trump being a Russia spy to remove him from office or falsifying documents to federal judges to get illegal FISA warrants to spy on a campaign?
    Like that

They are warming up the left to that idea.

It might be necessary to save democracy. If Trump is allowed to get power it will end democracy, so we need to just put a temporary pause on the election.

Don’t forget how Obama was informed of Clinton’s plan to tie Trump to Russia just to distract us from her email scandal. An ethical person would have told Clinton not to do that.

There is nothing Democrats won't concoct to interfere with elections then claim they are following the constitution because they don't like the opponent who is kicking their ass.

I haven't seen the polls in a while, but the ones I last saw showed every republican beating Biden worse than Trump does.

One can almost say the left is intentionally stoking anger hoping for a violent reaction so they can campaign on it.

The Secretary of State IS in charge of elections, in most States. Who is and isn't on the State ballot is in the Sec. St. purview. Really - REALLY!

Oh, the Constitution puts Presidential Elections in the hands of the States, it doesn't really define how States are to accomplish that. Most States put elections, including Presidential elections in the charge of their Sec. St.

It's because of Trump's cult of personality that you think there's a threat to democracy.

The MAGA are incapable of detaching themselves from their guru.

All the other candidates in the Republican primaries didn't participate in an insurrection and illegally attempt to overturn an election.

The 14th amendment therefore doesn't apply to them.

And for Trump, after the ballot disqualifications, there are still three criminal trials....

You're so in his thrall that you believe he can actually win in 2024.

You're going to suffer like never before.

We all missed the part where any Secretary of State has the power to leap over the 6th amendment to determine candidates are guilty of unconvicted crimes so they can remove them from ballots.
Can you provide that part of the constitution for us. We all missed that part.
