Think of the nation as a bunch of boats floating in the sea, the boats analogous to the states. If the tide rises for one boat, it rises for others, and did the boat cause the rise? No.

the point is, much of what happens to us, what we feel, is due to economic policies, but the economic policies at the federal level effect us far more than state policies do.

Okkay, in CA, there is a state tax, and some complain about that. But move to texas, and viola you wind up paying more for your kids school books, and other local taxes, than you would have with a state tax. UP through grade 12, school books are free, and they add up to a lot of money. Thee is nothing that the legislature can do about that because it is in the state Constitution. So, for other sates, I ask, "Is your state isn't collecting enough in taxes to adequately fund schooling, local infrastructure repairs, and so forth? You can bitch all you want about California, but it's supply and demand, which is to say, 'capitalism' which causes RE prices to be so high, CA being such a desirable place due to it's to die for coast line and killer weather (compared to other states).

Another thing, you want to blame CA's problem on dems? That's interesting, since the founding of CA there have been more republican administrations than democrat, so, of course, you forgot to mention that. You also forgot to mention that when Reagan was governor, he undermined the funding of mental hospitals causing the homeless population to increase significantly.

And you want to complain about homeless? The homeless migrate To cA because of the weather. Naturally, 'rent' is moot for a homeless person. CA doesn't cause homelessness, capitalism does. Rents are beyond the reach of the homeless, and high rents are due to unregulated capitalism -- supply and demand. If anything, CA doesn't have enough socialism.

And, so you regret voting for a homeless spending bill. The government can't end homelessness, but it can do things like provide vaccinations, limited health care, and attempt to lower the health risk to local environments, provide tents and socks to the homeless (their biggest need) take some of the sting out of being homeless, and that is a good thing. It seems to me that you judge everything in absolute, black and white terms, being totally oblivious to the fact that life is nuanced, and if you don't think of it's many shades, you'll never understand how good governance works. Simplistic philosophy is lousy governance, and that is why the right is notorious for not being able to govern. You think it's better in a red state? Then move to one. I've lived in them, and they are not better than CA. Oh, you say, prices are lower? True, but so are wages. It all comes out in the wash. Unlike other states, CA is the only one that is the 5th largest economy in the world. But, of course, in your universe, a cup is half empty instead of being half full.

So you think higher courts will reverse the Wash DC ruling?

I doubt that a Wash DC district court en banc review will reverse it, and I also doubt the SC will grant cert.

No, that one is solid as a rock, as it should be. The very idea that a president should be immune from prosecution for crimes committed in office goes against the American principle that no man is above the law. Only in monarchies and dictatorships is the top guy immune from prosecution.

I realize you have to defend your party and that it is difficult to discuss actual results that reveal the damage caused by those you cheer for. Our last discussion was about the pain and suffering caused by incentivizing illegal immigration.

Looking through the telephoto lens provided by your party, anyone who criticizes the poor results your party is producing, can appear far right. You admitted to being a Democrat, so I am going by what you say.

It is likely that you classify me as a conservative because that type of thinking is a requirement if a party is to achieve blind loyalty. "Us or Them" It is, of course, a logical fallacy. It also distracts from the results.

While it may be a generalization to say "All politicians with Ds and Rs by their name are irresponsible with our tax dollars", it is 100% true. Instead of holding your party accountable, you defend them. This level of devout partisanship allows politicians to rake in the dough and betray the tax payer.

Your claim that it takes time to see results only shows that you do not do your homework. When spending outpaces revenue year after year, a child can see the direction we are going. I will agree with you all day on Republicans, but results show that Dems are worse. You refuses to criticize your party even though they control abundant resources and enjoy unobstructed control while producing poverty, sidewalk feces, and a lower quality of life.

Even though I have corrected you several times, I will remind you that I am on the lower left quadrant of the political grid.

We are not a monolithic group, but most of us are opposed Trump and Trumpism as a threat to democracy and American core values. When Trump is in power, Putin smiles. In fact, Russia celebrated when Trump won in 2016

Republicans threaten public officials, right or left, who do not cater to Trump.

Judge Chutkan, Engoron (including his clerk), Kaplan all have received death threats, some goes for Willis and Smith, same for some repubs who didn't tow the Trump clown car, such as Bowers and Raffensperger, all received death threats from the MEGAverse.

The Democrat tide only lifts the wealthy boats. Those the party claims to care the most about are under water. Good example.

Text books are expensive because politicians hand out government contracts. We live in the information age and text should not cost anything. My youngest son got into one of the charter schools and there were no text books. Everything was on the computer, including homework. (The dog can't eat digital homework) I could login and see my sons progress and test scores. When the LAUSD went on strike, my sons school was open because there were non-union. Another great example. \

I never blamed CAs problems on dems; I simply pointed out that Dems control abundant resources, high taxes, and unobstructed control and still end up producing poor results for those Dems claim to care about, and great results for the wealthy. That doesn't mean that reps are much better. Dems are just a bit worse.

You are incorrect about the homeless migrating to CA. They are locals. You didn't do your homework. I am not here to blow the red state horn, but the problem is worse here. My money is better off going to charities that help the homeless. (Mostly evangelical groups)

Being faced with these facts, you manage to make it about me, as if having the ability to notice results makes me a pessimist. My guess is that your ad hom fallacies are to distract and to avoid having to criticize your party. Another great example.

Finally, earners and job creators are fleeing the state. What do you think will happen if this continues?

I defend them where they need to be defended (against blanket generalizations which are vague and serve no constructive purpose) and criticize when where they need to be critiized.

I have lived in CA since 1959, and i assure you, there is no difference in CA life under any governor that is detectable, other than the massive increase of the homeless under Reagan.
THere have many many republican governors since then, or did you forget?

    1. Ronald Reagan (1967–1975)
    2. George Deukmejian (1983–1991)
    3. Pete Wilson (1991–1999)
    4. Arnold Schwarzenegger (2003–2011)

You make vague claims like 'under dems it is worse'.

That's vague. That's partisan spin. Clearly, you are biased. I look at stats and life in CA, compared it to TX, LA, MISS, FLA all red states I have lived in, and CA beats the pants off of them all.

When you run a country, and CA is as big of a country as most countries, you can't be vague.

    This:

"All politicians with Ds and Rs by their name are irresponsible with our tax dollars", it is 100% true.

    No, it's false.

In fact, there is only ONE 'all' statement that is true, and it is this:

All 'all' statements are false....by default.

Clearly, you do not understand how governance works.

CA embraced the ACA and medicare expansion, my friend, who has MS, couldn't qualify for the ACA in Texas where she lives, which did not embrace the ACA and medicare expansion, but I checked her income level and plotted it in the CA exchange qualification parameters, and she would have qualified had she lived in CA.

For some folks, that's the difference between life and death, especially for those women who were forced to give birth to rape babies at a very young age in the red states, who would have no trouble getting an abortion in CA.

When Trump implemented the CARES act, my business was suffering because of the pandemic, so I applied for the PPP forgivable loans, and did not qualify. When Biden was elected, and implemented ARP, I did, and got a big enough forgivable loan to greatly help me through the worst of the pandemic. Much more than Trump, Biden's policies helped me, personally, not to mention than when Biden and Obama implemented the ACA, I wasn't old enough for medicare at the time, and as a self employed person, couldn't afford a private policy, the ACA was a Godsend. Democrats have benefited me personally far more than Republican ever did. republicans are do nothings and are simplistic in their thinking.

    Not immune from Presidential Prosecution.

    Not immune from Covid.

Not immune from E. Jean Carroll. (83 Million Dollar bill.)

Not immune from death. (The natural kind...)

And NEVER immune from the ridicule that will be forever his legacy, being the dumbest person who ever lived.

Again, the only people who can activate the DCNG is the president or his/her designee.

Period. No matter who wants them or doesn't want them.
If trump thought it was going to be dangerous enough to ask if they are wanted, then he knew there was a potential of trouble among his cult members.

    Of course it does.
It only gets covered if inflation/gdp rises. Which happens also if taxes are raised. Raising taxes does NOT decrease revenue, but lowering taxes will take in less revenue.

Dems are on the side of stricter gun control. If they were for bans as you keep suggesting, you'd provide the platform of theirs showing those gun bans I asked for. You didn't. You just repeated the same words without backing them up again.

Don't know what Ca does or does not do. I don't care either. It impacts me in no way at all.
If I don't like the State I live in, I move. But AFAIK, CA has not banned guns.
Maybe you can provide the law if they have?

You are not qualified to speak for what I understand. Doing so comes at the expense of ones credibility. I am not a partisan. You are arguing against a position I never took. When did I defend the governator? The fact that Dems are worse is not a claim; its an observation based on actual results. Of course, my position is based on the quality of life for the poor and wage earners.

The ACA is another great example of what I am talking about. While it gave record profits to big pharma and raised the cost of healthcare, Americans are fatter and sicker than ever.

This feigned concern for rape victims is not fooling anyone. If she wanted to defend herself from a rapist with a firearm, your party sings a different song. Another great example. Keep em coming.

No, I never said anything about activating the National guard in general and have only spoke of them deploying National Guard to DC to serve a police function. Trump couldnt do that without a request from DC or the Sgt of Arms of the House or Senate

Tax cuts have never resulted in a loss of revenue for the treasury. That is a fact you cannot refute. If you would like to try, tell me the year.

Dems are on the side of gun bans. Knowing that guns cannot be banned all at once, they use terms designed to mislead the gullible like "assault weapon". Do you know the difference between an "assault weapon" and a "Ranch rifle"?

CA has absolutely banned guns and even take guns away. Ordinary rifles with certain aesthetics are classified as "assault weapons" even though there is zero difference in functionality. These are banned. Those that already owned them were forced to register them and can not transfer them. When they pass away, their kids may not inherit them. This firearm will then be "taken!"
CA gun roster bans many common handguns for no good reason. For every new gun added, 3 must be removed. Do the math.
CA came up with a firearm restraining order that allows law enforcement to take guns without due process. Trump would be proud!

CA is a preview of what to expect when Dems gain control. It may not impact you now, but you at least know what to look forward to.

Less revenue due to lower rates is obvious. As I stated earlier, the only way revenue totals don't go down is if inflation goes up so gdp goes up to cover the lower revenue being generated by lower rates.

So, there's been a ban on certain style arms in CA, but not an all out ban.
    As I figured.

States do what States can do. Very seldom does that translate to Nation wide.
