This week the San Fermin Fiesta is being celebrated in Pamplona, a tradition made famous among Americans by Ernest Hemingway. On Tuesday it was the turn of apprentice matadores (novilleros) and the fifth bull of the afternoon belonged to the young Mexican Julio Luis David Adame who showed remarkable skill with the cape and muleta. You will notice that his feet remain motionless as the bull passes him every time, a sign of true mastery and most rewarding was how he killed the bull en recibiendo (by standing still while the bull runs into the sword. Most experienced matarores cannot demonstrate such swordsmanship.
