This will seem unimportant to some... But the Senate has decided to drop it's dress code.
It's fairly simple- we all know that how you dress is a statement of respect for the place you are at, the position you hold, or the occasion, and it influences our conduct. Suit and tie have long been required in the senate chamber functions- but no more. In this case, it's also a symbol of your professionalism and respect for those you represent... And It helps maintain a standard of order.

So- we may see senators sitting around in any level of casual appearance. Fetterman prefers shorts and a hoodie. As if, we don't need to respect the position of honor and leadership of our office. The bar continues to fall.

I thought you were mad at senators since they saved Trump from impeachment...twice.

As long as he's honest, listens to his constituents, doesn't break any laws or try to subvert democracy, Fetterman can dress like a ballerina if he likes.

That's my new bar since the Trump era.

They had to do something about Trust-Fund Uncle Fester and his Bill Belichick Cosplay. Fester makes me embarrassed to be a democrat at times.

Any idea how hard it is to get vegetated stroke victims and wheelchair-bound dementia patients into business appropriate clothes every day?!

I mean half our elected government body considers putting dress pants on to be a high risk danger event.

I totally get it. We get what we elect, and this is the state of what we elected.

Know what I don’t get? Still requiring everyone else to abide by dress code standards regardless if they are as mentally and physically retarded as those whose presence they must bow to

I guess we'll see how important an issue this is to the voters with the next elections. I could care less what Senators wear to work as long as they are representing the interests and issues of me and others who voted for them.

Our leaders set the example for the military. You should also agree to not having a dress code for military members. Do as we say not as we do.

Pretty do hospital beds, “gerry chains” and PJs will be the dress code as the Senate members get older and older.

Fetterman is an embarrassment to the State of Pennsylvania and its brain dead voters. His election shows how little the voters keep up with even the most basic issues. Nationally we will see how for gone the American people are if they re-elect Biden. The Republicans are little better with their Trump obsession. He’s also too old and perhaps mentally impaired.

Fetterman quickly became suicidal after he was elected. It was a big change for him and he clearly was not mentally prepared for it given his stroke. It was probably also hard when his spouse fled the country and left him to deal with all the changes by himself. I'm not a fan of dropping the dress code in the Senate, but the people elected Fetterman and he is their chosen representative. I think a better solution would be to make an exception for Fetterman, but I understand that could create mental health issues that a blanket change wouldn't. I hope the change is temporary.

Eventually the Jacket and Tie required rule will become obsolete in due time.

He should wear a suit... I've seen him in one he doesn't look half bad... He could even ditch the jacket and go full Jordan...

It's one of the few jobs left in America where it should remain the norm, even if many wearing the suit are empty vessels (Not John, mind you)

But relaxing the dress code rule will finally allow Lindsey to wear something from the frilly side of his closet (that he's still in)

Yo mamma never told you about disrespect? How looking like you don't respect others indicates you don't respect others and take your job for granted?

Of course it's far from just Fetterman. This is general disrespect for their own office- and the people. It's like the heart surgeon showing up dressed like a rubber chicken, and thinking it shouldn't affect his image or the patient's confidence.

One can certainly argue the bar for etiquette is falling, and I prefer our federal representatives to dress more formal, the standard of order is not changing because of Fetterman's dress code. Unlike Trump supporters, I weight their behavior magnitudes greater than their style of dress.

Democrats irrational reaction to Trump has caused this division. This is another Democrat policy that will fail our nation.

And the downward spiral driven by the left continues. How one dresses sets the stage for the importance and seriousness of the task at hande. That the left will drop such decorum over this one sloppy human being is so telling.

Showing your level of respect for the institution. Tell me why weren't you calling on it before Fetterman? What about him that the standards of decorum shoukd be lowered?

He is not immobilized and when required wears a suit. Were he truly helpless then an EXCEPTION could be made. Why did Schumer niw down to this sloppy person?

Fine, and I as sure know that all those Republicans that backed Trump for his false stolen election that caused 1/6, is magnitudes worse.

Trump boot lickers can blame themselves over this and their Dr. Oz nomination.

The business casual dress code at work has been relaxed. I still do it, but people are wearing jeans to work now. I see no real issue with performance.

The thing that gets me....is that the staff still needs to invest their dollars into professional attire.....and I can tell you good suits break the bank. That's like my boss coming in with comfy jeans and a t-shirt while I need to keep a wardrobe of expensive suits.....with a much smaller paycheck. I don't call that leading...
