It's simply commonsense we will be back. Surprised the reporter was "stunned". And yes it will probably be a president whose focus will be on protecting Americans and putting Americans first who will take us back in to clean out our enemies. I think there are better ways to defeat a country then Wack a Mole while rebuilding in our image under the assumption we will make friends that way. I'm sorry you think the enemy is too strong for us to defeat. Sad. I tend to think we go half way and pull back and we are adverse to truly defeating our enemy in body and spirit. Why do you think Japan and Germany are allies today? Because the citizens were defeated and knew they were.

 

Tell me how you defeat an armed insurgence loke the Taliban. There don’t have command centers to take our. They aren’t doing it for money, so you can’t stop their pay. Tell me how because we never figured out how. We couldn’t do it in Vietnam.

 

First we pulled back from Vietnam as we were winning because of propaganda back home. Second the Taliban said themselves that they had an unexpected victory when Biden ineptly pulled out in the way he did. So ....we probly had an opportunity to win. It's a matter of who has the strength and perservience to carry on to the end where one wins and one is defeated. If America chooses to be weak....then that's our choice. But it is an active choice to be weak. And we made that choice. It is not a good choice for the long term security of our country.

 

IIRC, he's also a veteran. He probably has a better understanding and closer ear to that grindstone than most non-veteran elected officials.

 

only way to win that type of war is complete annihilation like we did with Japan and Germany but we will never have a war like that again we don't have the stomach for it
so what you do is go in with a limited agenda take out who was directly and indirectly responsible then pull out no nation building no aid kill the bastards and leave then keep a close eye and do it again when the terrorist rear their ugly head once more

I have an idea. How about everybody just act like adults and handle their own problems. That way they can not only take personal ownership of their own lives, but design exactly what they want their future to look like for themselves and their descendants.

And, then, how about all the money we earn here in the United States can be used to develop OUR country, help our children, fight the causes that we want to see fixed. At least it would be a better return on our investment.

Germany was a country.... the Taliban and ISIS-K are just fanatical religious people, they can blend in with society easily

 

I agree we should never have left, but your preception of what a "win" is needs more definition. Note, Pakistan was helping the Taliban, and their methods did not require massive resources.

 

You aren't going to war with a religion. You are going to war with a country and its society that allows our enemies to act against us. I don't care what religion they are.
